i went to buy 3 tickets this morning online, ive bought tickets loads of times online before and normally when ive put my card details in and press proceed it then takes me to an rbs secure site and I have to put in certain parts of my security password in. when I did it this morning I pressed proceed when I put my card details in and then it brought me to a site (im sure it said rbs again) but it wanted my full name, sort code & account number and security number on the back of the card???

is that normal? its never done it before, when it asked for this I closed it down and then instead had to spend 40 mins on the phone booking the tickets via ticketmaster and had to pay £2 x per ticket I wanted

Often these details are required as part of an e-commerce transaction but this is prior to the secure code page so if you didn't feel safe you were right not to proceed. Normally the VbV secure page should only ask for your secure code or random parts of your code.

Card not present transactions only require card details. They should never be asking for that kind of detail.

    Someone's got a bug...

If you're buying goods they often ask for name, address, and card details including CSC number (unless they are stored). Provided it's a secure site there isn't a problem. CSC is standard in e-commerce transactions.

I didn't say in my first post but a 3d secure page will never ask for account number or sort code.

Sometimes the bank do ask for it online as a security measure. At least BoS/Halifax do.

Not true. The rbs one certainly asks you when registering the card in the first place and I've had it request the details when the card has some how become unenrolled. Natwest cards being part of the rbs group work in the same way.

Some card schemes will ask for these details when registering the card but the OP implies that the card has already been registered so these details wouldn't be asked for again. Also this would only apply to a debit card not a credit card. In my opinion the best practice is to register a card via the issuers website which ensures the site is safe and genuine.

Im not sure you can sign up on their website with the rbs ones. Also I've had mine request that I re-enrol with an existing card.
