It's admirable that we are wanting to play a passing game but the tempo has to better and is all the sideways passing across the back really necessary? As I posted after watching the Forest game, my main worry is just where the goals are going to come from. We lack width both left and right and there is no one breaking centrally into the box from midfield. Even the best sides like Arsenal cannot just pass their way through teams. If Morecambe can come and do a job on us as easily as that then it's pretty worrying what the rest of the Championship might do. The next seven days are already looking massive for our prospects this season. There needs to be a vast improvement against Southampton or we really could be in for a hiding. Let's hope tonight was just a blip and acts as wake up call to all concerned.
That has been my worry all along, nice neat passing, that goes nowhere, it has to be mixed up, keep the opponents guessing, hit some long balls now and again, play the simple passes, but always try to move the ball forward. Anyway I am apparently a nelly and short-sighted for saying things like that. So ignore me.
I agree with mark it has to be mixed up, if you keep possession fine but the crowd will get on ur back with pointless passes across the backline
