    Hourihane ?
Big George Waring being left out, subbed etc for Jabo?

I wouldnt blame Waring if he couldn't get out of Jokewell fast enough.....not Jabo's fault, it is LJ's for picking his mate Jabo.

Looks like a jobs for the boys carry on again already.

P.S. Declan John has been utter **** so far.

As said its early days yet but big question marks are appearing already about LJ.

Find a formation where can play two wingers, two strikers and have Hourhane just behind the strikers. Only option is 352 and we'd get ****** over with that.

I agree with a lot of that Bob. I'm hoping its just LJ patching things up while he can perform some surgery in the summer.

Jabo did better than Waring today, who looked jaded. LJ hasn't even had a transfer window to build a team in his mold and we are criticising him!!! Tactics today worked, they only scored from a slip while we created far more and Lee kept them in it.

I can see why you think that, but I think he's attempting to do the best he can with what we've got. We're having to fit players in.

Our set piece specialist, and, potentially best attacking threat has an inability to put a shift in. He's left us wide open when he's played in the center of midfield with only one player by his side. He's also been pretty ineffective out wide, so we're left with playing two central midfielders behind him, and no natural width on one side of the pitch. Our best central midfielder also has to cover the right side of the pitch a lot of the time. I'd say drop Hourihane, play with two wingers and a front two of Winnall plus Waring/Jabo, but sadly I'm not sure if we've actually got a decent pair of wingers in the squad.

    I didn't like the 4 1 4 1 formation today, it didn't work for me.

LJ needs a pre season before we can judge properly. I would let go all the loans and try to find players with fight. Winnall, smith, Davies, scowen I would build a team around, I would give hoirihane, holgate bree chance to develop, that leaves 4 new signings required in the summer and we can stick with what's left to fill the squad. Let's see if he can make the 4 right signings

theres only so much that Johnson can do and hes had to take over a team who were without confidence, and its not that long ago that we were 6th!!

the seasons over now though and next season begins already. i wonder if hes got his list of wants and not-wants for next season.

Calling him tactically naive implies there's an obvious formation and tactic out there that is better. Care to name it?

For all you know he could be tactically astute - this formation /tactics could be picking up more points than any other one could do given the players we've got.

Jose Mourinho would struggle to find a formation that worked with this crop of players.

Its ridiculous that the little jibes and pokes are already being thrown against Johnson , most are from the same people who would have had a fit if Wilson was criticised so early on. Hes no more tactically naive than 1000 games plus Danny Wilson was. Its as if some people can't wait for him to fail, they'll deny it but its true.

I hope he's going to do better in the transfer market. Jabo Ibehre has done a job, but Declan John and Cameron Stewart are woeful.

Very worrying, playing players out of position, no invention, ponderous build up lack of urgency late on when we needed to win. Early doors but still...

I think (in fact know) that LJ is still trying to understand the best formation and strengths of this squad. Not enough strength both physically and mentally. He has been limited by the squad he inherited and had to bolster with last ditch loanees. This isn't the style and team LJ will want to start next season. I feel the process so far has been trying to capitalise on a play off sniff whilst at the same time evaluating and planning the existing squad players for next season. O' Sullivan was poor vs Orient & great against Preston, Jabo great against Bristol and poor against Sheffield Utd, Stewart OK vs Preston, Winnall great vs Chesterfield poor vs Sheff Utd, Holgate, Smith, Hourihane, Waring etc etc all can find a similar pattern. This is what we have to contend with.
