So less than two weeks to go, a major shake up of the playing staff with the intentions of a couple more. What are everyone's thoughts on SD at the moment?</p> Mine personally, very impressed with the guy compared to what I said and thought in January. For once we appear to have a manager that takes the job serious, and is getting involved with the other major stuff. He works on the training plans, scouts players, building up the player relationships.</p> Was great to hear Nayatanga say that SD played a big part in him coming back. If papers are true he could have headed to Spain or Italy, but he chose Barnsley because SD gave him the confidence to play football.</p> I can't wait for the season to kick off now.</p>
Can remember last pre-season after getting promoted I used to check the website, ask people at the pub, check text every day to see if wed signed any players. Getting promoted was amazing but that pre season was a right downer. Ritchie decided "to give the lads a chance" (league 1 players). to be honest one of the most thing i enjoy about supporting a football club is the anticipation and excitement of watching new players. We got promoted but i didnt reallly have a massive urge to run down to the Well and buy a season ticket. This pre-seasons been a total contrast. We've got a whole new squad and filtered out the players who werent up to Championship football. Now weve got some exciting flair players and plenty of competition. Our defence was our weakness last season, but it looks about a million times better now, as does the whole squad. Im like you, i cant wait. Mainly because going to a football match is alot cheaper and a zillion times more enjoyable than having to go shopping with r lass every Saturday.
