And we think we've been 'robbed' Paying 200 thousand for Odejayi and they have paid 250 million and not reached the 'play offs'
Can't say I'm surprised really Anywhere else but Yankee Stadium he'd be an absolute star but he's had a hard ride from the Yankees fans since he joined, he certainly did the business in the regular season but he does appear to choke in the playoffs. If you want to see some of the most arrogant set of fans that think they have a god-given right then look in the Bronx. And I say that having had a soft spot for the Yankees. As it says there though - the question is who can afford to pick him up, can't see it being the Cubs though I'd love it....I reckon he could cross the city to the Mets. p.s. Wastyke - they did make the play-offs!
It was rocking in Boston at the weekend! They do like a riot though after victory.
According to the locals though , it wasnt the same as 2004 when it was completely mental.
They reckon A-Rod could go to the Sox as Lowell is out of contract.

Thats the problem with American sports, its easy to operate individually but be on a "poor" team.
However the signing of one "superstar" usually picks a franchise up.
The Boston Celtics signing of Kevin Garnett looks like it may turn them around.

RE: It was rocking in Boston at the weekend! I bet it was - it was mad enough in Chicago when the White Sox made the Series, and that being a city with 2 teams, I thought of what you'd said when I was watching the weekend games. And a rout by the Patriots as well - sounds like you had a good weekend, picked a good time to go. I wondered about A-Rod to Boston but I saw that discounted pretty much straight away, may have just been that the Red Sox didn't want it to get in the way of the celebrations. Wasn't he supposed to be going there when the Yankees stepped in for him?
RE: It was rocking in Boston at the weekend! Saw a guy get knocked out at the Ice Hockey, those Flyers certainly like a late hit , and a punch up. Got meself an authentic Ice Hockey Jersey that should come in handy when the weather gets a bit colder.
I have to admit I dont get Ice Hockey though, there doesnt appear to be any tactics other than dump it in behind the net the chase it in.

RE: It was rocking in Boston at the weekend! The Flyers have started well - got tickets to see them when I go over. It does seem to be a little light on subtleties though!
RE: It was rocking in Boston at the weekend! The 1st fight was ridiculous, it seemed way too orchestrated.
They did way too much "boxing" for it to be a proper brawl , like the 2nd fight was.
The Flyers were the better team and should have benn out of site.
Poor Crowd though , I reckon the Arena was barely 2/3rds full , and the reaction of the fans showed why, they didnt seem to care as lets face it as long as you lose less than 30 games in the season you will make the play-offs. How can you have any interest?

Its kind of different with the celtics though On a basketball team its a starting 5 and generally a total 8-9 man rotation. By bringing in 2 future hall of famers, Garnett and Allen, they have updated 25% of their team with the games best. its bound to have a significant impact. Its like Aston Villa signing, Rio, Gerrard, Henry and kaka all at once. its likely that Villa would be there or there bouts if they did that Where as in the NFL bringing in 1 superstar will be minimal if the other 50 guys on your team are poor
I saw my first proper ice hockey game last week Not counting the sheffield steelers. Swedish top divison hockey which is supposed to be 2nd only to the NHL. Was hughely impressed. The skill level there was much higher than I expected. constant action and not much just dump it in the corner. The crowd was superb as well. Like a top english football crowd. Singing and standing throughout, completly packed. Police between the home and away fans
RE: It was rocking in Boston at the weekend! I've been to early season games and, like you say, it's a sort of "oh well, we can win the next" attitude, earlier this year though I saw 2 NY Rangers games in the last month of the regular season as they were pushing for a play off place and the place was rocking. Good when you get a best of 7 series in the playoffs as well - imagine the ill feeling from those hits and brawls building up over the series! Basketball is the one I can't get into, scoring on virtually every attack…it becomes tedious, ok for the last 5 mins but the NBA game I went to this yar was really close at the end, the Knicks missing with the final throw which would have won them the game, and I still didn't find it exciting.
RE: I saw my first proper ice hockey game last week From what I've heard the Scandinavian leagues are far better, technically, to the NHL.

Fav Player with the Celtics, was the token white guy , I am sure being ginger helped him with the Celtics as well , he is on $3M a season and I reckon he will play less than 3 minutes a game.
Brian Scalabrine He got 20min a game last season and will probably get about the same this. As well as being ginge, being 6'10'' probably helps They have 2 white guys. Scott pollard being the other Its a strange one actually because Garnett initially didn't want to go there as they are perceived as traditionally a racist club.
RE: Brian Scalabrine They only had one white guy "suited up " on Friday night, and that was super Bri.
I guess 6'10" helps but he looked **** , and played as though he was unaware of what game he was supposed to be playing.
