If So They Will Go Down IMO

Southend United striker Freddy Eastwood admits January could be the time for him to move to The Premiership.

Eastwood's stock rose to a new high in midweek after his stunning free kick knocked holders Manchester United out of the Carling Cup.

The 23-year-old has scored consistently in the lower leagues over the past few seasons and has reached double figures this term.

West Ham United have confirmed an interest in their former trainee, although Southend are reluctant to lose the hot shot.

But Eastwood is hoping that a suitably tempting offer in the New Year could hand him his opportunity of playing in the top flight.

"I'm under contract and Southend don't want to let me go, but the gaffer has said if a big enough club come in with a good enough offer, he won't stand in my way," Eastwood told The Sun.

"If the right club come in, January might be my time, hopefully.

"It would be very hard to leave Southend. We've had so much success with two promotions and this cup run.

"Wherever I go, it's going to be hard to have as much success as I've had at Southend."

They haven't got a hope of keeping him.
