There will be a bucket collection for 4 year old Ebonie Webb prior to the match on Saturday in and around Oakwell. This is to raise funds to send Ebonie to the USA for proton therapy for her brain tumour. This treatment is not available in the UK so Ebonie needs to go over there as soon as possible. All donations gratefully received. 3 points would be good as well.
This is my friends little girl so please give if you can. All this poor child has known since the age of 6 months is hospitals and the terrible effects of chemotherapy. Here is some more information about Ebonie: Ebonie Webb is 4 years old and has a brain tumour. The brain tumour was diagnosed when she was 6 months old. Ebonie's parents Michael and Leanne realised something was wrong when they noticed her eyes flickering frequently. After the diagnosis was made Ebonie underwent 18 months gruelling chemotherapy at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. At one point the cancer went into remission but more chemotherapy was needed when scans showed the tumour had grown again. The most recent course of chemo has once again failed. In this country the best hope of a cure for Ebonie would be radiotherapy, but this presents too many risks to Ebonie's future health and well being. The chemotherapy has already caused lasting damage on Ebonie in that it is almost certain that she will be unable to have children of her own. Radiotherapy would put Ebonie at high risk of brain damage, blindness and deafness, and would also affect her growth. The ideal treatment for Ebonie is Proton therapy which is currently unavailable in the UK, but Proton therapy for children is available in the USA. It is a form of radiotherapy but is less damaging so the aforementioned risks of radiotherapy are significantly reduced. We are desperate to raise funds for Ebonie to get her to America for this crucial treatment. Ebonie is currently undergoing a further aggressive course of chemotherapy which will hopefully shrink the tumour. Doctors have advised this is unlikely to be a permanent cure and that the tumour is likely to grow again. This will mean that Ebonie's best hope of a permanent cure without any damaging effects to Ebonie's health would be Proton therapy. Well done to Stahlrost for organising the collection.

Hi Kanecat, I will be dropping a few quid in the bucket to help this very worthy cause. I hope everything goes well and this little girl and her family get to enjoy a normal life, something many of us take for granted.
