Is it me or does this current squad Hill is building have kind of the same feel and style of that team? I'm not getting carried away by any means, and I was too young to have properly supported the club through the couple of seasons prior to and during the promotion era so I don't have a full understanding of what was felt by the fans. But, I do know we have a management team reminiscent of Wilson and Winstanley. Hill comes across as the diplomatic tactician, whereas Flicker is more the Winstanley-esque coach who all the players respect. We have players who have had experience playing at different clubs (like Hendrie and Wilko at Boro); we have the Darren Sheridan midfield whippet man in Perkins and we have the exciting foreign winger who scores goals just like Clint Marcelle. Oh yes and we have the blonde keeper as well! All we need now is the new Captain Marvel.
And on a final note, the old much loved free flowing passing style has made a very welcome return to Oakwell. Come on Barnsley!

Its a nice thought but the quality of player we have now is no where near 96 and Hill 'diplomatic' ????

Ha good points no i don't think I necessarily meant that the current team was as good as that team. Have to admit there are uncanny comparisons though! Anyway, that wasn't even the point of the article, really. What I wanted to know first and foremost was, does it feel like the period leading up to 96-97? Aka the early Wilson reign?
And yes must correct myself, Hill isn't diplomatic, but he knows how to put his point across, and he's the kind of manager who shuts everyone up when he walks in the room. That's what I meant.. In a nutshell
