If Barnsley FC organise a football match then Barnsley FC fork out a lot of money to cover the cost of policing the fans so why is the tax payer funding the policing of an EDL organised event?

I couldn't care less what they 'want'. Their organised event has required a heavy police presence costing a lot of money. Any other organisation holding an event would have to pay for that and so should they.

I would expect the anti fascists to chip in as well then.

And to be fair there was 400 or so there the police milked the overtime.

It wasn't overtime, it was cancelled weekly leave - do you fancy having your day off cancelled at short notice and being made to alter your family plans because you have to work? Very little overtime left/available anymore, yes we will get a day back and yes it's the job people joined to do but don't believe it is for vast payment - those days are gone.
