Just a little concerned that Council leader Steve Houghton might lose his position. He is a massive reds fan and was apparently, instrumental in forming the partnership with Patrick Cryne over ground ownership when were up the proverbial creek a few years ago. I've heard of grumblings about this arrangement from opposition councillors. Given that the council are selling-off property left right and centre, it gives me cause for concern.

    Its the Labour council

who are all for selling land off left right and centre. So far as I am aware BIG members have opposed this.

So no need to worry :)

Plus unfortunately Houghton won't lose his seat, peolpe in Cudeth will give him the rubber stamp again.

Good point. People on here saying get rid of Labour council, vote BNP etc. Labour council, especially Houghton intrumental in deal with Cryne, so that we would not be put in that position again. If Ratepayers/Independents/ BNP can form some sort of grouping on the council, then that deal could be in jeopardy.

Not all BIG Councillors support it..

labour only have a small majority. I've no problem with them selling off buildings that can genrate cash. especcially such as those up Queens road that are far too big for the various groups that are currently using them. However, lets not forget that desicions can be made just to make a point rather than them being any good. I hope Steve Houghton does get back in, he seems a very decent chap.
