Did what he did. Not good enough for the championship, league 2 standard at best.

And me. Couldn't fault his work rate. Yet another example of people who just don't like a player picking up on any mistake to have a go!!

    ??????

Where do you sit - because you must have had a different view of the game

He seemed to wander all over the pitch - where was he supposed to be playing - quite a lot of his passes were misplaced, and he couldnt tackle his way out of a wet paper bag. And seems unable to get close to their players without grabbing their shirts which is very annoying.

I thought Butterfield looked much better when he came on

I thought he tried his best but he's still completly useless and a league 2 player at best

Thought he was appalling to be honest. Can't pass, shoot or tackle.

    Agreed...

Put some decent tackles in and he's a decent crosser. Thing is we played three in the middle today, El Haimour (a winger), a defender (who had a stormer by the way), and another winger in JCR... You can't play as an effective winger in a three man midfield so in the circumstances I don't think he did too badly.

Plus, if he's going to play three up front why not play Odejayi? Fair enough he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo but if you play 3 up front and tend to hoof it like we do then why not?

I thought he did okay although I think he is a bit out of his depth and not sure he will make it at this level. Looked to me like he'd been told to play midfield rather than the wing and disappointingly did that even when van H often needed an outlet down the wing. Having seen Butterfield - he was probably the better option in hindsight but can't blame Davey for the choice - El H was in front in the pecking order

disagree - was well off the pace - league 1 at best

laziness shone throughout. Asked everyone but homself to mark players up. Everytime it was him one on one tracking back froma thru ball he lost out. Agree he has decent vision with crosses sometimes but he was poor today. Bet then again most of the team wern't bothered today.

We need a left full back, well we have one in El Hamouir

The 3 in midfield didn't work, but SDs options were limited with the players that were available

El Hamouir and JCR seem to drift about all over the place

Hassel goes from strength to strength in the midfield position

Dont agree with the title of your posr

The Content is fine - thought with the benefit of hindsight I would have started Butterfield (and forsight for that matter but I havent really seen enough of him to be sure)

He is not a left back - he cant tackle or head the ball and he fouls to much. He was tried as a left back at West Ham and at fault for their first 2 goals and just generally looked awful.

If he has a place in our side its on the left wing - but he hasnt really shown ability to beat a man either. All I can say in his favour is he is left footed and can put in a decent cross.

Without doubt one of the worst players I've ever seen in a Barnsley shirt.
I honestly can't name a single attribute he has. He has no pace, can't beat a man, no skill, his crossing's awful, he gives possession away 9 times out of 10, he can't put a foot in and he's totally lightweight.
He's not had a single game yet where I'd give him more than 4 out of 10.
What sums it up is the number of times he gets the shephard's hook after 60-65 minutes

I don't wish to slag the lad off too much but I honestly can't see anything he has to offer.
For me a left winger as as big a priority in this window as a striker is.
Then we might have some balance to the midfield. Never replaced McIndoe for me.
Also an attacking central player to replace Howard.

Great post. Said exactly the same thing last week regarding areas to strengthen!

RE: Dont agree with the title of your posr

I agree he can put in some good crosses but the rest of his game seems weak.

When JCR went walkabout he was unsure where he was supposed to be.

Would still give him an extra point though for his comedy running.
