Elderly residents had to be evacuated from a care home after it was set alight in a suspected arson attack. Fire-fighters were called to Bollingbroke House, Common Road, Brierley, at 11.45pm on Monday. The 22 residents were moved to a safe zone within the home but were later evacuated to another care home, on St John's Road, Cudworth. It started in the basement when bails of hay, leftover from when the home had animals, were set on fire. Crews from Cudworth, Royston and West Yorkshire, spent three hours fighting the blaze. Can't believe someone would steal from a care home.
Do you know what arson is mate? It has nothing to do with stealing at all, it is the act of purposely setting it alight that is arson.
Thats what it said on Radio sheffield Mark. Stealing electric cable. As someone who's got a family member in there who's 92 this doesn't sit right with me. this 92 year old will not understand whats going off. She would have been woke up from her bed and moved to another home where she will be panicking.
Where on your post did you put about the cable thefts? How do you expect people to know what you are talking about if you only tell us half the story? I agree with you about the theft, if the police go to the scrap yard at Shafton , they will recover all the cable , plus about 2 tonne that was taken from elsewhere!!! The Gypo`s steal the cable then take it straight to that Yard, FACT!!!!!! I kinow because I have seen it with my own eyes while delivering there.
Stealing electric cable is theft not arson but you're right it's disgusting. This country has been too soft on crime for too long and it's time something was done about crime on all levels.
there was a fire as well thats why the home had to move the residents because of the smell of the smoke.
Yep you're quite right HT it could well be arson as the act was malicious and contributed to creating a fire. I'm no legal expert but they should be charged with arson and theft. And when convicted they should be getting a meaningful sentence.
