The differences he is talking about could be clearly seen in Live Aid Us (Britain) started Live Aid - this little country of ours led the mighty yanks by the nose again But when it came to the actual Live Aid shows there was a marked difference between the two shows - us (British) had all the latest bands on the stage And who did the yanks have ...............Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton et al. All people of this age group. Now I like Dolly Parton but surely there are times and places for such artists - and this wasn't it It just shows that the UK is a place where things change constantly in the music business and people over here prefer this In the USA people are generally steadier and more conservative and don't like change. Thats why not many British bands make it in the USA because its a sort of here today gone tomorrow industry over here Costello is.................old hat..............nothing new to say.........so he's better off in the USA
Plus Elvis Costello was ***** back when he started. So why people should like him now is beyond me.

And..... People such as Costello conveniently forget that this country gave them a start, the very foundation their wealth and success is based upon, it seems to me that people of his ilk, make money, lots of it and think people really care what they say, Bob geldoff and Bono are just the same, the latter is nothing more than a pompous ass spouting off about Africa's problems, his speech at the Labour party conference was laughable and cringe inducing, it's merely a vehicle for their own sad little egos.
He has an opinion... Whether you agree with it or not. The article is wrong by the way, I saw him in July of this year in London, so he hasn't just played the one gig in the UK since Glasto. The unforgivable things about him are his affected mid-atlantic accent and the fact he supports Liverpool although that made it a memorable night at UEA when he played the night Liverpool won the Champions League in Istanbul.
