Well here's what I said to the FL; another email like it going to the FA. Losing a match is one thing, but seeing a player struck down like that was sickening. " I wish to bring to your attention the appalling assault by Morgan of Sheffield United upon Hume of Barnsley. I was sitting close to the incident (closer than the referee, in fact) and it was plain that Morgan, who had been leading with his elbows all match, was going to do it again. He made no attempt at the ball, but elbowed Hume to the ground. The referee, whose negligence was breathtaking, left Hume lying there, clearly with a serious head injury, while he pranced about waving a YELLOW card at Morgan. It was well into the second minute of the injury before he allowed the physio onto the field. As you may by now be aware, Hulme has a fractured skull and is in intensive care. I realise that now that d'Urso took the cowardly decision to show a yellow card for this attack, the excuse will be trotted out that no further action can be taken. This is of course nonsense, as we all know; rules are there for guidance, and can be amended when the case warrants it, and this one certainly does. I sincerely hope that a prosecution is brought against Morgan in the criminal court; there were several hundred sitting around me who saw the incident only too clearly, and will be queuing to give evidence. For once, do something. The reputation of the game is at stake, as well as a player's career. "
COMPLAINT REGISTERED WITH THE FA Having seen the incident again on the news, it looked even worse than it did on Saturday from the Ponty End. Thank you for the FA link to register my concerns. Lets all wish Iain a full and speedy recovery.
EMAIL THE BLUNTS AS WELL In a sensible fashion WITHOUT being libellous, obnoxious or abusive. I've asked them to do the right thing, show a bit of class and deal with Morgan themselves. info@sufc.co.uk
Just sent this Good evening, I am writing to you to urge that the Football League take action over the wreckless and violent conduct shown by Chris Morgan in saturday's match between Barnsley and Sheffield United. As you no doubt know by now, the result of Morgan's assault on Iain Hume is that Iain is in Intensive care after an emergency operation after he suffered a fractured skull. For several seasons now, the FIFA, the FA and the Football League have been camaigning to get this type of dangerous challenge aout of the game by sending off all offenders immediately. I trust therefore, that you will also be taking action against mr D'Urso, who by he feeble award of a booking, effectively condones Morgan's assault. If this had taken place on a saturday night in any British town centre, Morgan would have spent the night in a call and would be now facing minimum charges of Greivous Bodyly Harm. Rehards, Brian Armstrong.
