As you know I contacted Man Utd about the conduct of their fans last week, saying that the trouble at the end of the game when the fans were throwing items at the police force scared my 9 year old daughter so much that she said she did not want to go again. The email response I received today:
    2nd November 2009

    Dear Mr Helm

    Charter Complaint Reference: 18117

Thank you for your email dated 31st October regarding the behaviour of Manchester United 'fans' at Oakwell for the Carling Cup 4th round on Tuesday 27th October.

Following your complaint, your concerns have been officially documented through the Club's complaints system which is regularly reviewed by the Senior Management Team and this email contains a unique identification number which confirms that your concerns have officially been registered.

Manchester United shares your concerns regarding the behaviour of these so called 'supporters' and every effort is being made to identify the offenders. If they can be identified, and they hold facilities at Old Trafford, these will be cancelled.

The Club will assist the Police with any investigations and will support the issuing of any banning orders as a result of these investigations.

Please reassure your daughter that the offenders will be brought to justice and every effort will be made to eradicate this kind of mindless behaviour from football in the future. These people damage the reputation of our true supporters, the team and good name of this great Football Club and we support the strongest action possible.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your concerns.

    Yours sincerely

    Shelly Peacock
