The best half time team talks in the business did their usual trick and we were 2 down within 5 minutes of the re-start. It can no longer be coincidence, there is something wrong going on in our dressing room at half time because week after week we come out half asleep. There was no coming back from that and to be honest the best we could have hoped for was 0-0 as we were never going to score. But we never keep clean sheets either, so...

There will be plenty of excuses claiming that we were playing Reading who are a great side, and to be fair, they are, but we were equally poor against Donny, Coventry and Forest, so I don't accept that argument. Whoever we play, we're crap.

There's no enjoyment at all from watching this Barnsley squad. There's a bit of huff and puff, but no quality at all. Keith Hill got lucky when he inherited Jacob Butterfield at a time when he'd matured enough to be ready for first team football week in, week out and then he made his one good decision in signing Vaz Te. The team he's assembled is not good enough for this league.

I don't claim that any other manager could do better on such a small budget. I'm not asking for his head. I just don't get the all the adulation for putting together such a poor side who without the above two players would undoubtedly be relegated.

    bloody hell even Jay now.

Christ Jay they musta been totally bad for both you and JLWBL to be so downbeat. I do not think we will go down fella as the bottom 5 have almost as difficult a run in as we do and some play each other, so I reckon even now we may be safe already. But I re-iterate if guys like you and Kev are getting this down then its truly time to worry.

    I don't think we'll go down either

Even if we lose all the rest of our games, which is a possibility. But if we'd started the season with the squad we've got now we'd be well adrift at the bottom.

    I think that's a bit harsh

If I were Keith Hill, I would like to take some responsibility for the way Butterfield performed before he got injured. Let's be honest, up until this season he was nowhere near an England U21 call up, but with Keith Hill as manager he achieved it. Could purely be coincidence, but could also be down to the manager.

Craig Davies (despite being played out of position on the wing), has scored more goals than any of our recent strikers for as long as I can remember.

Davies up front, with a midfield of Vaz-tastic, Butterfield, Perkins, Drinkwater and JOB was a comfortable mid table team, playing exciting football. Unfortunately when you lose five of those six, and all five helped supply the only one who is still available for selection, your form will suffer.

We had the heart of our team ripped out in January and we haven't recovered. We don't have the money to fix the situation, and we've tried to do the best we can - which hasn't been good enough.

That's what worries me. That squad will get relegated. Yes we've been unlucky with injuries, but we currently lack any kind of invention or leadership. Done and Davies were the only players who actually tried to make things happen.

Which is what we'll do next season.

And which is what will happen.

Craig Davies is a half decent striker at this level

Good finisher, needs to work on his first touch.

But I find it very difficult to praise Hill for Davies when he continually plays him on the wing. A positive plus a negative has always been a negative.

You've got to praise him for signing him though, surely?

And he did play him down the middle when we had our strongest midfield, which was when he scored six in six or whatever it was. When he lost the creativity of the midfield in January, Davies started seeing zero of the ball, and so he's started playing him on the wing more often to get him involved. Worked against Forest, hasn't worked before or after!

For some reason, after half time against Derby, we are playing a different game.
