This season was...A step in the right direction

I think the manager has... (popularity? pressure? success?) Surpassed expectations, brought a real togetherness to the club, something that was lacking after last season.

Our Player of the Season is… Mads Andersen, a consummate professional, defensively rock solid & a true leader!

The Emerging Talent in our squad is… Luca Connell, signed for free & is one of if not the best midfielder in the division

The best opposition player to visit Oakwell has been....Luke Woolfenden for Ipswich, absolutely rock solid at the back, he impressed me most out of all opposition players to visit Oakwell this season.

Next season, we need to....Push on from this season, add one or two players to the squad & ensure we keep the core of our current squad, including the manager. Automatics a realistic possibility.

Season was really good. I expected us to be mid table to be honest and be closer to the bottom four than top six. I didn’t expected numerous players to come through as they have and fair play to Duff getting superb performances out of ‘meh’ players, who now look like they could get in most teams in this league. Others like Kitching, Williams, Collins, Andersen and Kane didn’t surprise me one bit. Superb players and should be playing a level higher.

Michael Duff has won over every single Barnsley fan and fair play. Shouldn’t move on though. Got a project at Barnsley.

Liam Kitching was my player of the season. Turned up in most big games and can see him gradually getting better. People are worried about Andersen leaving but Kitching will have plenty of offers.

Liam Kitching, Jordan Williams and Luca Connell will all potentially be top Champ players one day. I think the first two could even have Prem opportunities. In terms of emerging for us as a club, I think Josh Benson will get plenty of football next season and if he continues like he started the season, will be a major asset. I think Matty Wolfe will have a massive say next season and despite a crap start, Jon Russell will come good.

I never went to the Ipswich game so can’t comment on the likes of Chaplin and George Hurst. I thought Dom Gape was outstanding from Wycombe and is now a free agent. I also thought Dempsey and Kieran Lee (another free agent) from Bolton was class in that 3-0 demolition.

The guys from the NTT pod are putting out an end of season review and have asked the following:

    This season was...

    Positive, Progressive and Pleasurable

I think the manager has... (popularity? pressure? success?)

    Popularity, Presence and Personality

Our Player of the Season is...

    Mads Andersen

The Emerging Talent in our squad is…

    Luca Connell

The best opposition player to visit Oakwell has been....

    Jay Stansfield

    Next season, we need to....

Sign Harry Isted and Bobby Thomas, replace anyone we lose with similar quality and sign two credible strikers, at least one with pace.

An excellent understanding of Barnsley Football Club and what it takes to make us successful at League One level. Of how to unite a group of players and staff and fans.

Our Player of the Season is...
Mads Andersen. Come a long, long way since he first arrived to now be a mester who leads by example and could comfortably play at a higher level.

The Emerging Talent in our squad is…
Most of them! Hoping to see some of the U18s group progress, especially Jalo. I hope we stick by Marsh, Wolfe and Helliwell who have had terrible luck with injuries but who seem to have the right attitude and to be passionate about playing for Barnsley.

The best opposition player to visit Oakwell has been....
McGoldrick. We'll have to face him again next season unfortunately.

    Next season, we need to....
Go again, simple as. Add a touch more ruthlessness in front of goal and we'll be contenders.
