It's a problem that the English national team have had for about five years now... always with the negative/neutral sideways pass, never the fast, flowing, dangerous attacking that Croatia showed today. By the time England decide to lump a ball up to the forwards, every man of the opposition has got behind the ball, got into position and sorted themselves out. Sometime in the mid nineties, somebody noticed that a lot of the major foreign teams played slow patient buildup. So they tried to replicate that, but badly. No English club team plays like that so why should the national team? I think my missus was pig-sick of me pointing this out again and again during that match.

The only upside to tonight is that they played so badly they got me so annoyed that I'm not upset that they're not going. It serves them right. Concede three at home when all you need to do keep a clean sheet and the whole team wants a kick up the arsch.
