I think we’re fixed until April but this is going to be completely unsustainable for people. Something has to give.

Profiteering, full stop. When the world's industries shut down, watch the price drop.

It’s ok, the conservatives have sorted it and are keen to level up and help the people on lower wages. It’s the future apparently

Energy companies shooting themselves in the foot. At least it's one way of speeding up de-carbonisation

Mine unfortunately was due for renewal a month or so ago. Gone from £88 a month for both gas and electric to now £255 a month for both. It's absolutely disgusting. That was the lowest I could find it too for a fixed rate tariff. Luckily me and my missus will be able to afford it (not easily but can manage) however others won't be so lucky. Has to change soon.

Jesus, that's going to be £500 a month for us. At least the mortgage is fixed for 5 years at a low rate.

I started overpaying in January so it’s not such a shock in October, but I’m in a fortunate position to be able to do that. For those choosing between food and heat it’s going to be heartbreaking.

My supplier is Octopus Energy. Was on £133 a month for gas & electricity.

They e-mailed yesterday, and based om my predicted usage they recommended I raise it to £194 a month.

We supply readings every month. They quoted us an increase from 98 quid a month to 230. We set up a standing order for 150 and we are in credit. Just needs people to not fall for their ********.

Looking forward to a winter wonderland of cold sandwiches, candles, thick jumpers, and the whole family crammed into one room on an evening, enjoying Scrabble, charades, and a good old singsong.

    Oh, and frozen pipes... :(

Be careful. The increased dd is based on projections for the next twelve months and the increase coming in October.

You should be going into credit in the summer months. The problem will be if it isn’t enough. It’s not necessarily you avoiding falling for ********, it might just be deluding yourself that you’re paying enough and a nasty shock might follow unless you cut down usage when it gets a lot colder and darker earlier.

If you’re going to be using double the amount in winter though you’re either going to need to build up over £1000 in credit or have to pay £700 a month. The reason you pay more in summer is to make the increase less of a shock later. The idea is to have roughly equal ish payments all year with a small increase in winter, rather than it suddenly doubling in December.

This country is one big fat joke!!!!!! We the people need to unite and take to the streets to show our displeasure and cause a big fuss, while ever we ‘just take it’ then absolutely nothing will get done!!!!

Same here @JamDrop we fixed until April. Wish I'd taken the 2 year fix now. The last prediction I saw did show a very small drop in April. But it will still be a lot more expensive than now due to the October rise. As you say many will simply not be able to afford these prices

I’m dreading ours. We’re still fixed from last year but that runs out in October so we’re going to get hammered when we have to switch off this tariff as we’ll get April and October’s hits in one go.

I’m not sure it is. Many are turning to log burners…
