Aren't there 2 full days to go? So why not try to rack a few more runs on the board tonight? I'll never understand cricket.
no one in the history of test cricket has come back from that far down or summat... plus, knowing our luck, it will rain all day monday, match will be drawn and ashes go back down under
You've got to ask yourself what the Aussies would rather be doing at this minute. A) Standing in the field wasting a bit more time. B) Padding up to face Freddie Flintoff and Jimmy Anderson for an hour. We've got enough runs now anyway so there's no point sending Harmison out to bat.
Is it because, effectively, the Aussies will have to bat themselves in twice? They might just get going tonight and then finish for the day and then have to do so again?
Basically there was no value in the last batsman coming in It would waste overs we could be bowling at Australia. The last 2 players were in and would have unlikely to score many runs anyway, but no-one has ever scored over 500 to win a Test match.
noone has ever got anywhere near the total england have set the aussies to chase in a second innings of a test match !
