mess it really is. Hart is a fantastic keeper, but beyond him we have nothing like a stable keeper. One of our strongest centre halves has been crocked in a friendly so our defence is potentially an "alleged" racist in the middle of a three-quarters black defence, a man who disgraces himself at almost every turn. Johnson can't defend and Lescott is average. Its bad when Ashley Cole is your shining light in defence. The squad defenders are all average premier league players. Our midfield has also been knocked by injuries, where 2 of our most experienced and probable starters have been replaced by a defender (eh?) and Jordan Henderson (WTF?!). I don't know how Downing has continued to convince people he is a premier league footballer nevermind an England player, I'd be worried if Barnsley signed him. We need big things from Gerrard if we are to do anything, Oxlade-Chamberlain has the potential to be great but I doubt he'll get much time on the pitch this tournament. I hope he does because I think he's one of the best we've got despite his age and lack of experience. Most of the midfielders do have the potential to be match winners but none have done that on a anywhere near regular basis for club, never mind country. Up front we have one star. One person who could win any game of football, playing for any team in any game in the world he can produce a bit of magic to turn a game on its head . . . . and we could be out before he kicks a ball. And if we are still in god knows what you could get from him because in an England shirt Wayne Rooney has rarely produced what he does for his club. Andy Carroll has had a shocking season weighed down by a big price tag. His form turned a bit better in the latter part of the season but lets be honest, it couldn't have got worse. Defoe can't get a game for Spurs. Wellbeck is average. The manager was not most peoples first choice. He has been dropped into the job at pretty much short notice to take us into a tournament. He could not have got the Ferdinand / Terry thing right whichever way he played it and the knives will be out from the press whatever happens. He'd been in the jobs about 12 hours and they were already taking the piss out of his speech. He has made a few odd decisions but you really get the feeling he can't win. Based on this . . . I think we'll go and win the fvcking thing.
I actually prefer not hearing the press waxing lyrical about the 'golden generation', can actually enjoy the tournement as a whole instead of 'expecting' an england victory and losing interest in the game as soon as we get knocked out. id be very happy to progress out of the group.
Its bad when Ashley Cole is your shining light in defence. Have you been drinking? Ashley coles one of the best left backs in world football. Maybe the best left back at euros. Lescotts a good player, played very well for City and has looked a rock this season for them. Jags is a good player and so is jones as backup. Villa would have downing back tomorrow if they could. Welbecks been starting in front of a 30 million pound striker and henandez the shock of 2010/2011. The midfield central, parker Gerrard and henderson did cost 15/20 million 1 year ago so hes rated very highly. Stop Fecking moaning.
im feeling on top of the world these past few days, my notifications have all been 'likes', my wife has noticed an extra spring in my step and thinks im having an affair! it never rains!
Ashley Cole is a lovely person. He is currently a shining light because he is less of a lovely person than Terry and probably our best defender. Lescott is ok. He can have a decent game but is capable of a major **** up. He nearly cost City the title with one of his **** ups. "Jags" is so good he couldn't get in the original squad. How do you know Villa would have Downing back? You spoke to Lambert today? He cost Liverpool over £20 million and do you know how many goals he scored this season . . . none. But thats ok because he's a winger and is there to create goals. His assists? None. Stunning. Parker and Gerrard is a reasonable central midfield partnership but Henderson has had a poor season. Just because Dalglish (a man who has been sacked btw), paid a vast amount of money for him does not make him rated very highly. It means he has a lot to prove and has failed to prove it this season. Now you may have missed my underlying tone or maybe I just didn't make it clear, maybe you didn't get as far as my last sentence. I actually think that despite all this we'll do ok. So I'm not ****ing moaning, just sparking debate. Whats that quote about something "in the face of adversity"? You know the one HT . . .
What your personal opinion of anyone got to do with there ability Coles a very good player and so is Terry. Reading the villa forums 5/6 weeks ago a lot said it. Lambert will not have the money to bring downing back. england have quite a lot of very good players. Not everyone will be in the squad.
Its not got anything to do with THEIR ability, but an teammate mrs shagging, racist thug can have a really negative affect on a squad in a tournament. I kind of hope you've made that up about reading Villa forums and remembering what it said from 6 weeks ago. I really hope thats not how you spend your time. However, I would suggest that if that is true it would only be a handful of them and that they were at such a low point with their side that they probably would have taken Steve Stone and Lee Hendrie. And yes, you are right. Wilshere for one would have walked straight in to that team.
I think we have a quality keeper in Joe Hart - not be many better at the tournament. I still rate Ashley Cole as one of Europe's better left backs. Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott have hugely impressed me for club and country over the last year or two, and seem to have built up a good partnership in their games together for the national side - played against Spain didn't they?? Glen Johnson I'll give you. The lad is a winger at best. Similar to Scott Wiseman in that he can't defend very well. Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker are quality IMO. The rest of the midfielders such as Henderson, Milner and Downing do leave a lot to be desired. None of em would make my B squad. But we have Ashley Young and Theo Walcott who are as good as anything at the tournament on their day. In fact, for me, Young is our key player. Up front is a big worry, but I've always rated Jermaine Defoe, and Carroll could be useful against the weak French defence. The key is getting out of the France game with at least a point. I'm in full INGERLAND INGERLAND mode already. PS - Roy Hodgson was my choice for manager if that man was to be English. Harry Redknapp would have been another Kevin Keegan IMO.
Its was an high % and downing and young feature highly on there promo video. I dont think the players will think much about whats terrys meant to have done. The players at chelsea dont have many problems either.
Young is starting to produce more often for club and country, but him and especially Walcott need to start doing on a regular basis. They both have the potential but sometimes look like they need a big shake and to be told "YOU ARE GOOD! GO AND WIN THE GAME!" Hopefully that happens this summer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain could be a key player for us if he hits the ground running as an impact sub against the frogs. Just stuck a cheeky quid on him at 250/1 for sports personality of the year, you never know, could be another gazza.
