Prefer X Factor TBH but glad it's over, can we relegate it to ITV4 now? Terrible sport watched by mostly posh boys that love a bit of social media when the national footy team struggles. Well, backatchya.
Re: Prefer X Factor TBH You've been constantly slating it but constantly watching it when there's 100s of other things you could watch or do. SM making a fool of himself. Keep on, keep on.
Hardly. We were in a very tough group and it hasn't gone to plan but you can't compare them to the football team.
Bit like our football team for choking when they get big crowd support. The only amusing part of the evening was Prince Harry belting out a song about a guy many think is fictious, saving his rich granny, that for some reason still stays as our rubbish national anthem.
I'm not trying to defend either but both our football & rugby teams had very difficult groups. For example the football team were just as bad in 2006 & 2010 & probably played worse football than 2014 but we got piss easy groups containing teams like Tunisia & Trinidad meaning the manager got less stick
This RWC group was particularly difficult. It was always going to be 50/50 in the games against Wales and AUS. Only 1 of our entire squad had experienced a world cup before, it's a very young squad in those terms. We'll be better equipped at the next one. Anyone who expected us to qualify easily and go on to do something at this world cup was fooling themselves. The lack of experience showed.
What I don't get is a crowd whose best and sole effort to urge them on is to sing a song about a bloody chariot. Now I know football has some moronic chants and songs at times but Jeez show some imagination
At least the players show some proud in singing the national anthem Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
2012 we had a very tough group which we topped, having had next to no preparation. And still got slated. Just saying like.
Find yourself a translation of the Welsh song 'Sospan Fach'........you'll have a shock! From a Taff's perspective (who was supporting Australia last night) I'd ask why did England think they were good enough to qualify for the next stage? Same thing happens with the England football team - the pundits, commentators etc. become blinkered, kid themselves and the supporters that England are invincible and then disaster strikes. Pre yesterday's match no one actually considered the possibility that Australia were in fact the better side and they might win. To have done so wouldn't have been defeatist just realistic. Good luck Chris Coleman - this could be the Taff's year!
This supporter knew it was a tough ask to qualify. I thought we could beat Wales/AUS if all went well but didn't expect it. I'm sure I wasn't alone. I'll now lend my support to the other home nations. Would love to see Wales or Ireland win it. Or Scotland, but that's not realistic.
I was just thinking of the world cups but fair point. Enjoyed that tournament. The Sweden game was a belter I think there's been an anti-Hodgson angle from the media as well. I don't believe he's done any worse than Capello & Sven & they had far more talented players to pick from
To put it in to rough football terms, it would be like being in a group in the Football World Cup with France and Italy or Holland and Argentina, no one can really predict which way the results will go. The problem was in the seeding of the tournament, no way should Argentina or Samoa have been seeded higher than Wales, It's effectively left three top teams fighting for only two spots, and yet NZ, South Africa and France will qualify with ease. Wales really should have been in that All Blacks group, especially considering they've reached both the semi and quarter finals twice. No way would you expect Argentina or Samoa to beat Wales in the tournament, yet they have been seeded to suggest they would. Despite being out ( in a group of death) I don't think Lancaster's done too bad a job considering where we were when he took over. Had Robshaw taken the Points against Wales we'd be still in and probably favourite to go through in second place.
Agree mate. We've not always been thrilling to watch under him but we've been solid enough in general. Think we could have a decent run in the next Euros if we get a kind draw.
I think expectations should be at an all time low. If we look at Spain & Germany's teams we don't have a single player that gets a game for either of them but the good thing is none of Italy, France, Holland, Portugal look up to much so we might do well if we can avoid Spain & Germany One thing we do have is a few exciting forwards & two natural goal scorers in Kane & Sturridge so I just hope we have a go & entertain for a change at a tournament.
Holland aren't very likely to even be there by the looks of things! For me, some entertaining football and the quarter finals would be absolutely fine.
