I'm excited so an early thread.

The journos in the know reckon its a 3-4-3 formation with no Foden, Grealish or Mount.

Seems to be the front of Sterling, Kane and Saka.

Shaw and James/Trippier the wing backs, with Rice and Phillips in the middle.

    Then the back three.

Can't say I'm thrilled to be honest.

You are excited- we’re playing Germany tonight. Croatia are out
Edit: When I say tonight, the KO is at 5pm
I would hate for anyone to miss it on my account :)

I feel like I'm in a parallel universe thread here.

If it helps the city forget making history by having both sides relegated in the same season for the first time ever, who are we to judge :D

I fancy a cagey 1-0 win for England. Sterling in the 57th minute.

3-4-3? Is Southgate taking inspiration from Big Val?

Only relevant stat here is that England has never won a knock out game in the Euros going back to the 1960s (apart from the lucky penalties victory against a superior Spain in 1996).
In fact they have never beaten a former World Cup winner (at the time of playing) in the knock out stages of any tournament since 1966. This is not just a poor record - it's bizarre and pathetic in equal proportions. Some day it will change.....

Yeah but we're awesome in qualifying, how many teams can say they've always got away wins in Moldova, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia and Albania........

All we need to do tonight is find away of isolating Hummels and then having Sterling run in behind.

Stop the wing backs and block off Kroos and Gundogan making runs in the box. We can hit their high line on the break.

Hope there is an early goal otherwise might be boring with 2 sides playing cagey. When teams have gone behind we get to see some attacking with intention rather than playing keep ball.

Having backed Germany pre tournament I must say that I have not been impressed, yet group games are a different kettle of fish and would hope to see both improve.

Gundogan hasn't trained for the past few days I don't think so he's a doubt. And there's a rumour that Gosens (spelling?) has covid.

    It's Coming Home.

Can we switch Sweden v Ukraine to the earlier kick off? It’s more convenient for me & sets the big match up nicely. TIA.. :)

Having watched Holland & France get dumped out for defensive sloppiness, I’m going to cut Southgate a break for now.
Generous of me, I know..
