Is anybody really bothered about this fixture any more? Both teams are **** and boring to watch and the passion for this fixture went donkeys years ago. I went to Wembley when we stuffed 'em 5-0 and also when we lost 2-1 and the Jocks ripped the ground to bits for souvenirs it meant that much. But back then the jocks had some outstanding world class players mostly playing in the top division of England. Beating Scotland at football meant something 'cos they were that good. Nowadays, half the England team are reserves for their club sides and I couldn't name you one jock who is an automatic first team choice in the Premier League. Personally it doesn't mean a jot to me - it's just another friendly but I suppose the jocks from the wee country will regard it as a big scalp if they beat us. In some respects it's a bit like Barnsley playing Leeds. To them it's just another match but to us it's like playing the old enemy.
So irrelevant and no one will be putting in any effort with the season about to begin, won't even be watching it.
They've got to play some friendlies...better than watching something like England v Austria. I haven't watched an England game in full since the Euro's, I'll be watching this one though. I don't think an England win is a foregone conclusion, although it has to be said Scotland are a poor side.
haven't had the desire to see them live for ages, only been twice and the last time was in 2006 against Jamaica. I'd have tried to get tickets for this one though if I'd have known about it soon enough...I'd have been looking forward more to the day sesh that would precede it like.
Be afraid, be very afraid. We're coming to get you. TBH I couldn't give a monkeys either. Infact I'll be on a train returning from a day out in Edinburgh when it kicks off. 6-0 England or 6-0 Scotland, who cares? Only the fortunes of Dundee United and Barnsley interest me.
Isn't Wembley as sell out? So there must be a fair amount of interest. I'll be watching on Wednesday but I'd never pay to see England play at Wembley. I'd rather watch Barnsley play away if I was going to travel down to London.
I was losing interest and the Republic of Ireland game the other month topped it off for me. I hope in one way we get hammered. It will make The FA look into more detail to what's wrong against a country who have just rebranded their leagues and making an effort to make their international side pretty decent and they nowhere near have the talent we have at our disposal. I'm getting to the stage with what i'm like when i want a Barnsley manager to get sacked. Hope we get hammered so they **** off back to where ever they came from.
I absolutely agree, we always seemed to be complacent after we won the world cup which one of the factors that ruined the national football team
Living in Scotland I have to say it is absolutely crucial that England win. If Scotland get a result I will never hear the end of it. Sadly it does mean a lot more to them than it does to England but that really frustrates me. If both teams were going all out for victory I would feel more confident about an England win.
It would have bothered me when I lived in Scotland. In Euro 96 I had to come back to Barnsley when we played them just in case they won;i wouldn't have been able to stand the p**s taking straight afterthe game. McAllister's penalty miss and Gazza putting Hendry onhis backside are two of the best minutes of football ever! These days I live in England again and have little time for the non achieving national side. It's all about the Reds for me.
