Can someone please explain to me how danny welbeck still gets a call up! He doesn't deserve it at all. Scoring 2 goals all season in a team like united is piss poor!! I've said all along its all about who you play for? He wouldn't get a sniff if he was playing for Norwich

Defoe, Lambert, Rooney and Welbeck are Woy's choice of forwards....I honestly hope we don't qualify for Brazil.

To be fair Ricky Lambert is in the same squad, so the last argument doesn't really work.

I don't rate Wellbeck at all, but we're seriously lacking alternatives.

Who else is there though? I don't reckon we have the quality to compete in Brazil either, but I don't see why that'd mean you hope we don't qualify?

To be fair, I'd be gutted if we didn't qualify...But we're going to be embarrassing.

Is Daniel Sturridge injured? I thought he looked superb for Liverpool at the back end of last season.

That's exactly the problem. Any even half-decent player qualified to play for England gets over-hyped by the press, gets a call-up, and then gets paid ridiculous amounts for being decidedly average. Steve Bull and David Hirst would've been on 80 caps each had they played in this era.

I don't know but I would take Sturridge over Welbeck every time.

David Hirst would never have won 80 England caps. He was always f@cking injured.

Wenesday fans used to call him "tampax." In for one week, out for three.....

Ha ha, fair enough, but you must know what I mean in terms of skill / ability, compared to the non-enitities we have putting on an England shirt nowadays.

It says it all that the best players for England, at least on paper, STILL tend to be the likes of Ashley Cole, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney etc. We are severly lacking in quality, especially up front. Remember the late 90's-early 00's... we could call upon Owen, Shearer, Andy Cole, Fowler, Sheringham, Ian Wright. All players who could reasonably be expected to net 20 goals in the Premiership. Rooney aside, no other England striker looks close to topping the 15 Lambert got last season. I don't rate Welbeck. To me he's another athlete playing football. Pace and athleticism abound, but very little football know-how or cutting edge. Fair play to Lambert, he's shown you CAN still go through the leagues to the very top. But overall it shows the dearth in true attacking talent at our disposal.

Can't honestly say I care either way anymore. Privileged pampered Pollocks at premiership level who display little national pride and believed every red topped hyped word thats written about them. Football beyond the championship has signed its pul to the devil. The sport of the working class annexed by Russian criminals and human rights abusers paying ridiculous money and charging people a fortune. I'd rather Barnsley have a comfortable season than us qualify.

Rooney, Sturridge, Carroll and Defoe is surely the 1st choice 4-some

Hopefully Gary Hooper will turn out good enough to pinch Defoe's spot (I could see him being great or terrible) and Darren Bent will have a good season to force a bit of competition.

I agree that this group looks terrible though - Welbeck isn't that good and Lambert will be a 1 cap wonder

Saw Hooper for Norwich last week against Braga. Was very impressed by him. Strong. Gets stuck in. But very quick off the mark, great acceleration. Scored twice.
The other chap, Van Whatsisname, absolute donkey.
