I apologise for starting yet another thread about cricket on a footy forum, but having witnessed possibly the worst 24 hours in English Test cricket, I feel ashamed to be an England supporter and feel dreadfully sorry for the people who have made it out there. It must be gut-wrenching.

When a shot is ski-ed and Anderson and Cook leave it to each other to catch it, then Bell drops a dolly and then our so-called best bowler is ripped to shreds by a novice Test batsmen (28 runs in one over) it says it all really. Shambolic. I can't watch any more. I wonder if our self-proclaimed "one of the best batsmen ever" can show a bit of nous (Pietersen, for those that don't know) and not throw his wicket away, again. Hoping for a miracle. But I fear the Aussie attack will be able to exploit the huge cracks that the English bowlers couldn't find.

As I type, ............ golden duck for Captain Cook. Laughable. Come home now boys, you're pathetic.

I was in Adelaide and there seemed to be a number of problems in the field on day 2 - Poor body language, bad fielding and a perceived lack of effort from what I saw. It's been an awful tour and to surrender the Ashes so meekly is embarrassing.

Full credit to Australia, they've utterly outclassed us in every single department. I'm glad that I'm working at the minute and can't watch it

I know a few lads that are flying out for the last 2 tests, and feel sorry for them. That they've saved up for years and are essentially going to be watching 2 dead rubbers is a massive pisser.

I still have tickets for days 2 & 3 of the SCG test. I'm hoping that we at least show a bit of fight for that, however at the minute there's very little that points to anything other than a whitewash

I want to hear Mary's thoughts on it. He seems to have stopped giving us his expert opinion.

Busy cooking up stats for why we are actually the best cricketing nation, and just very unlucky.

No knee jerk reaction then? We've had far darker days in recent history; being rolled over for under a hundred in the UAE by Pakistan when chasing hardly any springs to mind. We're getting comprehensively beaten by an average team, but we've had worse spells.

Just too many players out of form at the wrong time. Simple as that really.

Clearly you've not seen England play much cricket.

Watch very little of the cricket nowadays but watched last nights highlights and would just like to ask if we have any decent wicketkeepers because that Prior looked like he had never stood behind the stumps before in his life.

Time passes and fashions change. Perhaps its now the 90s again and we have to be crap at cricket. At least this time around Australia have batted twice in each match and not knocked up 650+ for 2 before declaring at lunch on the second day and bowling us all out for about 200 (both innings together).

Well I'm embarrassed by your comments Calgary Tyke.

Okay they aren't playing well out there and with that confidence drops and you will see things happen in the field that you wouldn't expect.

Okay they aren't batting/ Bowling and fielding to the levels they normally do but to call them the worst you've seen in what twenty four years is bull sh*t.

Mark Butcher as said if you go back 10 years when he retired and then look back at the 10 years before that then this whats happening in Australia is normal.

I've been reading what Micheal Vaunghan's seen saying and hes disappointed not because they are playing badly but because this group of what he calls a very talented group as this. Cook, KP, Trott (before he went home) bell, Root (not been in very long but an amazing talent), Prior, Anderson, Broad, Swann.

A LOT of former Pro's have said the same as Micheal. A lot of them including Gough have said they would have loved to play in this team.

It happens Calgary. Why not thing about the good things, Ben Stokes. England have been trying to get him in to the team for about 18/24 months and now they have. He could be in the team along with Root Bairstow Finn Robson for the next 10 years.

What about two/three years before going to world number one and getting done for 98 in West Indies and then not leaving enough time to bowl west Indies out in other tests.

How do you know - both of you? Seriously, that is a frankly stupid assumption to make.

That was the worst 24 hours of cricket I have ever witnessed - the bowling, the batting, the fielding, the captaincy and I have been watching it since the late 70s. I have watched pretty much every ball (until I gave up last night) of this Test thanks to the time-difference being favourable to me here. I'm pretty sure I've seen more of it than you have.

Have you seen the bit where Anderson and Cook leave the catch to each other? Have you seen the bit where Bell drops a catch my little boy could've taken, only for Bresnan to take over and get a run-out. Then there was Anderson's bowling - simply embarrassing to have your supposed best bowler hit for a Test record-equalling score in an over. Brilliant.

I was being facetious, but im sure there was worse. They're just badly out of form and their confidence is shot. It has been quite sad to see them roll over in large part - but that's sport for you. S'only a game.

I'm laughing too. All is well in the Hemmsy household. Blinkers are clearly on.
