RE: Yes a strange score with only 2 wickets down Should have got 300, but it should be enough under the lights.
If we can't defend 288 under lights... With Flintoff back, there's summat up. I've a wager with an Indian lad from work on this game so come on!
RE: we were terrible We were terrible is a bit harsh. Bell scoring at over a run a ball and Cook getting 100 off 126. Decent contribution from Prior as well. They picked the bowlers well, kept it ticking over when Zaheer and Singh were in tandem and attacked the rest. Seemed pretty spot on tactics to me. Wish they'd get Dhoni out sharpish though.
Played for Scholes and in his early days Goughy played in the league as well. Some very good players have played in this high standard league. Pushpakamara scores runs for fun for Shelley.......... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huddersfield_Cricket_League
top trumps i opened batting with m.moxon for barnsley & yorkshire boys and opened batting with tim boon (england assistant manager of ashes winning team 2005)at ackworth . played for barnsley under 18s with a.sidebottom and captained ackworth to numerous trophy wins with former england player g.stevenson as vice captain. ooopps bit of a windy moment ......sorry i never fielded in the long grass though.
RE: top trumps Gets a bit boring with Skelmenthorpe and Honley dominating it all. But then Honley do have Matthew Wood and Skelmenthorpe a couple of good Huddersfield 1st team players.
standars now are poor .average players get paid stevenson played for us saturday and yorkshire sunday before a england game thursday , the cost to us f..k all ......he was a legend for 5 years at yorkshire and boycott rated him as highly as botham for sveral years , he always would help out at ackworth with freebies for auctions etc and funy thing is he always **** himself batting at monk brettons bouncy wicket , 1983 ackworth 120-0 after 11 overs ponty lge stevenson 99* fereday 10* extras 11 . he was good but came down at the end of every over to tell me to get my head down cos the wicket was poor !! we were all out for 170 after 23 overs and monks were all out for 155 after 58 overs , fantastic to have played with several top guys at a high level. Martyn moxon was and still is a fantastic person and just look at what he achieved and left behind at durham , yorkshire will benefit likewise in the long term with such as rashid and wainright ,
best one was ackworth v yorkshire 1983 yorkshire w.athey b kilvington 78 g.boycott b fereday 114 c.johnson n.o 45 d.bairstow n.o 34 extras 5 total for 2 wickets 276 ackworth 167 all out c.old 4-78 a.ramage 2-45 fereday 36 wathen 34 *
