I know it's only Moldova, but you can only beat what's in front of you. I thought Welbeck, Wilshere and Lambert were superb. Wilshere would create himself some space in midfield, Welbeck and Lambert would take it in turns to either drop deep or play on the shoulder of the last man and they'd all interchange passes. It's how the best teams in the world do it: fluid movement, interchangeable positions, short accurate passing. With good back up from the experienced Lampard and Gerrard we looked a good attacking side. We scored four but it could have easily been double that. Good to watch too.

The question still remains on whether or not we can do it against a quality side, but I thought there was some genuine quality tonight. Maybe Gerrard and Lampard will struggle against a more mobile midfield, but if they can leave the running to Walcott, Wilshere and Welbeck we might have finally found a system where they can play together. 10 years too late like.

Welbeck's yellow card was ridiculous and we're going to miss him in the next game. That lad has taken some real hammer, but tonight he started to show what so many managers have seen in him.

    I enjoyed it.

Great to see Wilshere in an England shirt. Lambert impressed again. And as you say, Welbeck seems to have really come on a lot.

I thought Gerrard and Lampard were outstanding, though.

And yes, it was only Moldova, but then they did get a point against Ukraine which must tell you something.

Shame Milner couldn't make it five. And I found the Moldovan keeper very entertaining.

Huge game though, Tuesday. I'll be working. Typical.

Erm . . . you aren't allowed to say that.

The only acceptable things to say about England these days involve the words:
    Not bothered.
    Overpaid.
    *****.
    Same old players.
    Hodgson is old.
    Pointless.
    Don't care.
    Club over country.

    And so on . . . .

Lambert is the difference. 1st choice for me. It's criminal that he didn't get a call up last season.

We finally seem to have a few in form strikers. Rooney shouldn't get a look in at the moment, even if fit. Sturridge, Welbeck and Lambert should be first picks.

Wilshere is the complete midfield player. Quick feet, an eye for a pass and very tenacious. I'm just sometimes worried about him getting sent off. With a full season under his belt for the first time in his career he should be a great player for us in the World Cup, assuming we get there.

He'll never stay fit a full season, made of glass unfortunately as he is world class.
