I was just going off what Radio Sheff put on twitter. Andy Giddings has just said the deal is over £1mil with £400k up front, £450k over 12 months, 15% sell on and more money if promoted to prem. Better than first reported, still wouldn't say they got a good deal.
He's 27 next month to be fair, and this is his first season of prolific scoring. I would have thought around £1m was about right.
A few add on's...From Giddings 400K now. 450k over the next 12 months, plus a 15% sell on clause and further money upon promotion to the PL. (2/2) so yes..pretty good
Done well for themselves. Next time we sell one of our star players we should ask them to negotiate the deal for us.
£850k cash plus 15% IF he is sold and more money IF cardiff are promoted for the top goalscorer in the country.. Not sure it's such a good deal.
One of my old uni mates is a massive Chesterfield fan and he's fuming. Still got 18 months left on his contract and he's top scorer in the division. They've probably just thrown their chance of getting in the play-offs away.
Stones Law - As a discussion about transfer fees goes on, the probability of a comparison of another players fee to that of John Stones increases to the point of certainty, regardless of its accuracy.
