Can anyone tell me if any give free valuations and if so which ones.

I think they all give valuations but some of em tell you your house is worth more than it is to get you to list with them, then after a month or two tell you to drop your price.

We found Whitegates honest enough to give a true valuation and we got shut in weeks.

When Simon Blyths visited I just laughed at him and told him it wasn't worth that much.

 

One tried to scam me (allegedly)

Tried to give me a very low valuation (allegedly). The scam works by the agent arranging for a mate to make a low offer (allegedly) which appears to confirm the low valuation. The mate then sells the house for its true value later (allegedly).

The Rightmove site will tell you (allegedly) the prices of properties in your area that have recently been sold. Just put your post code in.
