I’m wanting to run a Ethernet cable about 60m, Would u have to use Cat v cable or just join multiple extension pieces together?

    cheers

Ethernet and Cat 5e are one and the same these days. There's also Cat 6, 7, 8 etc, but it's not massively important for home use.

It should be fine up to 100m, so extensions will be fine. I'd recommend getting couplers like these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RJ45-Shielded-Ethernet-Extending-Connector-Black/dp/B07TV9RWLM

That will allow you to join 2 cables together, so they can more easily be reused in the future than an extension cable with male one end and female the other end.

This cable needs to go outside so could I use cat 5 then put make and female connectors on either end then?

Yeah that would work. Yeah, if it's outside I wouldn't use the couplers for obvious reasons.

You can get outdoor cable, but unless it's a similar price, it's probably not hugely important. It will just be a bit more rugged.

What are you trying to do? i.e. can you use a powerline adapter if you have electric cables running to where you need to be.

No problem with 60m of Ethernet, no problem with joining Ethernet cables, but if I was running a long cable outside I wouldn’t joint it, unless for temporary use.
That said, the 5g signal from my router is no slower* than the wired connection that runs from a gigabit Ethernet port. Also look at power line, but it depends what you’re intending to do.

*I got over 200 Mbps last week on my phone
