When is he back? He has been superb in centre of midfield. I think its no coincidence that we've started slowly, without him playing.

I think we should be a bit careful not to lump all our hopes and expectations on Etuhu's return. No doubt, he was excellent at the end of last year and pretty much became first choice in the middle of midfield. However, it wasn't that long ago that he was pretty ineffectual on the wing when picked and totally lost when played at right wing back.

Being careful not to be too critical here as I rate the lad but the problem last night wasn't the lack of a ball winning, all action midfielder. We had Perkins and Dawson doing that job pretty effectively. Where we did lack was in creativity, invention and a bit of class. Mellis had an off day and as industrious as Dawson and Perkins are you never get the impression they will create something out of nothing. And I think Etuhu is of a similar ilk.

Great news. Amazing how he changed from an average right midfielder, to an excellent centre midfielder.

    Spot on.

He's a great stopper. If we're hoping for more creativity he isn't your man. However, him doing a bit more work for Perkins might free him up a little.

Been banging this drum for ages. He's pivotal. Whenever he's been out of the side, we've suffered. Light years ahead of Daws. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see Daws slip down the rankings further, if Digger emerges

I agree that Etuhu is similar to Perks and Dawson, but I think he drives us forward more effectively. Perkins and Dawson seem to run into trouble quite often and they love a sideways pass.

problem is I think Flicker really likes Dawson, and always seems to want to fit him into the side somehow. I thi k he would drop other before him

A do like Dawson but him and Perkins are too similar type of players....they just don't go together, it's either one or the other.

I've never seen Kelvin do anything other than tackle/block and then pass. Not a bad thing if Perkins/Mellis are on their game mind.

It's its presence and reading of the game. Something were missing at the moment

I don't think he reads the game any better than Dawson or Perkins. Perkins is by far the best reader of the game we have, he's never far from where the ball is and hardly ever gets caught out by a counter attack. Etuhu has played 20(?) games in central midfield and has a lot less experience than both Dawson and Perkins. It's his height and physical presence that we miss.
