The man was a lunatic. I'd not listen to a word he had to say.

Remember a story when I went down smoke to picket Wapping sun depot as part of the miners against Murdoch campaign. One of the blokes in a pub an elderly geezer got talking to us and brought up a story about Churchills funeral

Apparently he was a docker at the time and govt officials asked them to work overtime on the cranes to dip them as the cortege passed ,union left it to individuals to decide whether to work or not and to a man they refused until govt officials offered them treble time which just in time they took.
Also said loads of jeering as he passed dockers hated him.

You can't quote a Tory politician on the BBS. It's a crime akin to murder.

It makes me laugh that some will go into meltdown just thinking about Churchill but hold the politics of the likes of Lenin and Trotsky in such high regard and this is without taking into account supporting those who cosied up to the IRA, Hamas, Hezbollah and the leader of the Baath party.

Nobody cosied up to the Ba'ath party more than the West. Nobody provided IRA, Hezbollah Nd Hamas with more weapons and such as the West. Edit: It also took something on a scale of a tragic and murderous act like the Twin Towers for the USA to wrestle their morals over Noraid and their leanings towards the IRA.

Not defending Churchill against this accusation...but a bit of interesting reading

    https://sites.google.com/site/blaen...torical-landscape/newsletter/family-history-1

As to the Gallipoli failure, it was originally a Churchill plan, but by the time it came into being, the forces used were dramatically smaller than those proposed originally.

Mario you must know that Churchill cannot hold a candle to the likes of Corbyn, Scargill, Stalin, Pol Pot, Castro etc.

He is a disgrace to the nation.

    And so are you.

That's one hell of a leap from socialist MPs to an American political group. I'm not sure what it has to do with my comments regarding people who see Churchill as the devil incarnate but happily put some of histories more infamous characters on a political pedestal.

You mentioned the supporting of Ba'ath party and such, just pointing out the biggest assist they've had is from the west. I' not on meltdown over Churchill ,thought the British got it about right. At the helm in wartime but got shut during peace time. APolitician that changed sides when it suited.
