The uber-irritant that is Dave Callaghan, the regular commentator on Yorkshire matches has just passed comment with his colleague at the Middlesex V Yorkshire match on the size of the Lords crowd for a county game. Callaghan said something like "ah well there will be plenty of fans who have traveled down from Yorkshire".

Yes there will, I accept that. But also, just like with football matches played in the south, there are PLENTY of London and southern based Barnsley or Yorkshire fans who have simply got the train into London for the match. Plenty more who actually live in the city so will have just hopped on the tube to St Johns Wood.

Irritates me when commentators don't acknowledge that fact.

PS he irritates me most because of the way he speaks. "Lovely shot through the KEVVERS" is his favourite one.

Uber-irritant. Great word. I'm going to be using that word from now on.

He's highly irritating, been in the job too long and is too cosy.

I only started listening to bits of the match commentary in the last couple of seasons but I agree - he has the distinct air of smugness when talking. It's as if he is "Mr Yorkshire Cricket " and nobody can take his place. I wish somebody would.
