It's truely touching To see how many fans from other teams have gone onto their board to wish them the worst. Gives you a real sense of what binds us together as human beings ... a universal dislike of Leeds United.
Sorry but ... They aren't even in the same bracket as ManUre, who are a significantly bigger and more successful club than Leeds so it's hardly comparable. To mention them in the same breath is to flatter them beyond beleif. It's only in 10 of the last 15 years they've been any good, before that we played them regularly for almost a decade - and beat em a fair bit. Just think if it was some other club that had a small amount of success, spent a short period in the top flight but long periods outside. For example Notts Forest Sheff W Man City Newcastle Coventry Sothampton Sunderland Charlton Bolton West Ham even Chelsea are johny come lateley I think of these clubs only Chelsea would be challenging for less liked, part due to the Abramovich factor and partly because they have the same image as Leeds - cheap nasty thugs. Leeds cannot be compared to truely big clubs such as ManUre The Arse Liverpool Tottenham ? maybe that have actually achieved things, won significant numbers of titles and cups as well as spending long periods on the top division. I'm not trying to be rude to you personally just to making a point ... but I can't imagine anything more ridiculous than comparing Leeds and ManUre as equals in stature. Sorry for the rant, but you really hit a nerve there.
Sorry for hitting a nerve... ... but the point I was trying to make was how many fans would be willing Man Utd to be relegated IF they were in the same situation as Leeds as now ? I'm not suggesting that Leeds come even close to the level of Man Utd and I don't have any allegiance to Leeds whatsoever. It would be a worldwide tragedy if Man Utd were to drop down a division, but Leeds, well most people outside of Yorkshire will probably have forgotten come the start of next season. The division between supporters and opposition of Man Utd extends around the world and perhaps could be compared to the split of countries during the second World War ? The banter would be HUGE !
RE: Sorry but ... You are confusing disliking a club because they are successful ( as tends to be the case with Man Utd and Chelsea for example), to a dislike for completely different reasons which is where Leeds (and Liverpool, Everton for me) come in.
I don't think I was What I was trying to say was. Lots of people hate Leeds, because they are Leeds Lots of people hate ManUre because they are successful and would like to see them knocked down a peg. To try and say, well a lot of people hate Leeds but more hate ManUre, is overly flattering to Leeds, who we just hate because they are thugs. The hatred of Leeds far outweighs their size and level of success, compared to the likes of Man City - a comparable club in terms of gates and lack of success I don't think nearly as many people we hoping for Man City to go down as there are hoping Leeds will. I certainly think the relative success of a club influences the number of haters they have ... and then there's a **** fact on top of that. I'm sure you could come up with a formula I think that's allong the lines of what you are saying or have I still misunderstood?
Agree with Zukkster. I fooking hate dirty L**ds with a passion. And my hatred is irrational beyong the fact that they are local. Its just that they are L**ds. I dont know where my feelings are from. I am pretty much neutral about successful sides such as Manure and Liverpool.
Yeah that's exactly my point Lots more would be laughing at ManUre, because they are a much bigger club. More supporters = more gloaters when you do badly Lots of people hate Leeds for being thugs (and I think it goes far beyond the borders of Yorkshire), and that hatred far outweighs their size as a club. You're right they are a tiny speck of a club in reality when compared to the likes of ManUre, but they are a nasty little club. Which mean so many more people will laugh at Leeds compared to when Man City were down there
