As a professional you don't day I've been offered a better job and I'm off Didn't martinez do that twice? Well - erm no! Well - erm yes!
Similar to Martinez's logic. Says that players shouldn't be allowed to be transferred once the season has started (Stones). But is looking to bring somebody in before the window closes.
Footballers and football managers are full of contradiction. Constantly coming up with excuses, rather than saying what they really mean, what they really want or what their real intentions are. Laughable sometimes. It's made worse these days, of course, by the fact that they constantly have microphones shoved under their noses, so they're bound to make a fool of themselves at some point.
Tony pulis on motd - the transfer window should shut before the season starts, it's not fair on saido berahino, he's a lovely lad, never been any trouble, it's not fair etc etc. Meanwhile, breaking news on sky, west brom sign Jonny Evans.
think it would be a good idea personally if the window did shut once the season starts, proper planning needed then when rich clubs couldn't just bale themselves out of trouble by snatching another clubs stars and dropping the other club in the mire. Same with the emergency loan system seems every occasion is an 'emergency' these days
They should scrap the transfer window full stop..Go back to the old way and just have transfer deadline day at the end of march like they used to..IMO.
saying the transfer window should shut before the season starts, and then signing a player, is not a contradiction at all. You'd be daft to force the rule on yourself and be at a disadvantage. Also, Berahino was/is a player not available for transfer. Man Utd actively want to sell Evans. Another fine example of the BBS not comparing situations like for like.
I think most Everton fans are understanding of Stones position. There's been the odd bit of abuse but most applauded him on Wednesday & yesterday. It's only like us with Holgate, most understood why he wanted to go but a few have slated him. For the good of the league I'd like to see him stay there as it's not good for competitiveness when the the team's just outside the top 4 have to sell to the ones above them. They've got a very good 1st 11 when everyone's fit & Stones as well as McCarthy, Barkley & Lukaku are 4 quality young players to build a team around
Martinez was pretty quick to slate Mourhino/Chelsea for bidding for Stones yet I remember him making his pursuit of Lukako pretty public. Just one of his quotes in the press back then, asked by fans in Thailand whether Lukaku would be joining the club again, the former Wigan boss even went as far as to say: 'of course we'll get him'. Double standards there old boy. Let Stonesy go to a club where he will actually win something and give us our brass you tight tw@t.
The second part of this piece from yesterday's Observer covers the point you make. Double standards all around. http://www.theguardian.com/football...d-san-marino-bobby-charlton-manchester-united
