Couldn't remember a single thing about him. Don't even recognise the name. Then I checked his games for Barnsley. One start and three sub appearances away from home, none of which I went to, and a start at home to West Ham who hammered us 4-0, the only home game that season I missed. So, I never saw him play. If he was on a par with the rest of the ***** Hill brought in during the second half of that season, then I doubt I missed much.

David Button, David Cotterill, Lee Collins, Frank Nouble, Korey Smith, Michael Tonge, Kallum Higginbotham... does anyone remember anything of note from these players? Does anyone even remember them playing for us?

Lee Collins was a strange one. Seemingly did Port Vale a favour in paying for a player with only a couple of months on his contract, as they were in financial trouble. Then played him about 5 times, 4 of which he looked decent, and the other he was terrible. Then we let him go. It was strange to say the least.

David Cotteril was half decent, wasn't unhappy when we didn't sign him though. Then had a storming year for Doncaster the season after in league 1.

Only Dudgeon is realistic from that list. I'd have McShane but we could not afford his wages.

Higgingbottom wasn't too bad I'd have him as back up, Dudgeon would have to be signed on a pay as you play deal, so his wage can be used for a loan replacement when's he's injured. McShane would be brilliant at this level but just not a realistic signing for us.

Dudgeon would take any wage at this stage of his career, but why would we get a loan left back in when we have a capable one in Smith?

Got to admit following relegatio I am surprised Hull let McShane go. Champioship quality.

McShane is experiened, and would bd an awsome signing at this level... His Premier League days are probably over. Could we afford him??? I didn't think we would be able to afford likes of Lita or Ramage in L1 but we did. And with Cranie, Lita, Treacy and others gone with have signicantly cut the wage bill.

Question is does McShane want regular football or higher wages in his last few years as a pro.

Other plus for us is that he knows the club and would not have to unsettle his family or necesarilly move home if he signed having spent several years at Hull.

Would be a great signing but doubt it will happen.

McShane and Bruce had a big bust up he was always going to leave when the season ended.

He should walk into a regular Championship place he's an excellent player.
