I hope they do I hope Man Utd field the under 14s and get battered and both Newcastle and Sunderland go down. I hope they try and sue Utd and lose spectacularly, pillocking themselves in the process. It might just end all this litigation in football.
They haven't got a leg to stand on. Fergie's within his rights to play whom he likes out of his first team squad.
He is and he isn't The rules state he can't field a weakened side. But he should have the right to rest players for such a big game. It should never come down to lawyers though. If Utd break the rules they should be sanctioned by the league, not by way of legal action and claims of lost revenue.
Who judges what is and is not a "weakened team" If Fergie puts out a team that he believes is capable of winning the game
It'll more than likely be the side he put out against Everton in the cup and they were certainly capable. I don't think Newcastle could say that it isn't a side capable of beating Hull.
the whinging whining 'we are too big to be relegated' geordies ought to shut up, i cant wait to see them at the 'well next season!!!!!!
Which rule states that? Every club has a first team squad of say 18-30 players, and I find it hard to believe there's a rule that states which ones you can and cannot play. They played their 'reserves' in the FA Cup Semi Final and might have won it it wasn't for the 'senior' players missing their penalties. One could argue Davey's broken the rules numerous times then by playing certain members of our squad week in week out when there were better options! Where on earth would this argument end? Liverpool played against West Brom on Sunday but I bet he was rested for a game earlier in the season against a team around the bottom. Can West Brom sue? It's a squad game and in that position I don't believe any manager worth their salt would risk their star players in a meaningless (for them) league game with a Champions League Final 10 days later.
Premier League rules- paragraph E20 "In every league match, each participating club should field a full strength team" It implies that a player can only be omitted from a squad/team for footballing reasons unless injured, so its completely open to interpretation. Saving them for a European Cup final is a football reason in my book. The rule is actually aimed at preventing match fixing rather than preventing fat geordies and mackams from beefing and running to their solicitor.
Playing the full strength squad wouldn't necessarily mean Utd would win Professional as they are, the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney aren't gonna go full into challenges and risk missing the final. Hull will prob get a better, more physical match from the squad players.
Hmmmm I think any 11 members of the first team squad would constitute a full strength team in that sense. It's like if we had an FA Cup Semi of Final to come and we had nothing to play for in the league, we might rest Foster, Anderson, JCR, Hassell and Kozluk say, and bring in Souza (last season), Butterfield, devaney, Van Homoet and Potter. It's still a first team. I agree, that resting players for the CL Final is clearly footballing reasons, hence Geordies have no case! Come on Hull
