PNEs second goal where he made no effort to close down the goalscorer and was jogging back at least 3 yards off his man when he could see the danger. No where near the man when the shot was curled in. Dire!!

That be Matty Wolfe. Could be a decent player for us, but a lot to learn.

Shhh.. your not allowed to mention things like that. There our future..
I saw where 10 of the 14 that played for Derby were under 21..
And they won.. I feel there's a problem in our academy. The person/persons that have the final say.. who's good and who isn't .. need to take a long look at themselves

Don't think he does anything wrong. He locks off the pass to the centre behind him and leaves Daniel Johnson with a very high difficulty shot.
    Great strike. Move on.

While I've been fairly impressed with him when I've seen him, he did come out publicly to say the players had downed tools after Huddersfield (let's be honest, it was way, way before this) so not a huge surprise is it

Admittedly, the finish was top drawer. But both him and Browne (I think it was) had far too much space in the box having both ran off Hondermarck and Wolfe.

I'm not going to point the finger at individuals, but, a very high difficulty shot?

Johnson had the time to take as many touches as he liked, roll up a cigarette, get a barbecue going, read the Magna Carta, and then pick out a spot in the top corner.

Giving a player of that quality so much time and space is absolutely criminal, and only ever going to end one way.

    3% on Infogol.

For a left-footer that's a very good finish, IMO Archey.

Whats this mate? A website showing the likelihood of goalscoring from where he was?

Great strike or not..when you see a player in the area in a shooting position unmarked you should at least try to close him down or put pressure on him to get his shot away . In the end Johnson had all the time in the world with no sign of anyone closing him down. The nearest Barnsley player was Wolfe and he did not react to the danger and just jogged back.

A barnsley fan on a barnsley forum that doesn't know who the players are?? Strange one that.
No doubt he should have been closed down quicker but no doubt it'll be highlighted when they analyse the goal and lessons will be learnt.
I didn't notice it live at the game although I did notice Browne running off Wolfe and Hondermark.
Think no one expected the shot but no excuse.

What nonsensical stats... How does the algorithm work that out?...too many variables to compute... Same map shows another shot at a more acute angle (albeit near the goal at 22%)

Statistics ......damn lies and statistics :)

Think that's more down to quality and experience of the Preston players than lack of endeavour from our youngsters. Think we need to cut them some slack and start next season afresh. These 2 games are to learn misters football in, no surprise that Preston scored goals.

Live in Italy mate and don't watch games since iPlayer previous season was not worth the money - too unreliable . Also apathy set in some time ago re watching BFC . I could/should have checked against the squad list on the official BFC website but the point of the post was to elicit comments on my honest opinion. I am aware that Wolfe, particularly from his comments is considered by some as less blameworthy but in that instance again IMHO, having viewed the goal several times in the highlights, there was a distinct lack of' busting a gut' effort to get back to close down players in free space in the box. Val would have been apoplectic at the lack of commitment.

I’m not sure about your first sentence. I know movement from top players can sometimes be too good, but that yesterday should’ve been tracked or at least closed down much more.

I agree about starting afresh next season though. Hopefully we can have a good summer turnaround and start next season off with a flyer.

I honestly believe he didn't expect the shot, no excuse i know.
I also think he was dead on his feet and noticed him hobbling through the last 15 when all subs had been made.
This is a lad that's never had to play 90 twice a week and I'm sure if there was anyone else they'd give him a rest.
Not trying to excuse anything as I agree he should have closed down quicker.

Going to go make a sandwich.
    60% likelihood it'll be ham
    30% likelihood it'll be cheese
9% likelihood it'll be ham and cheese
    1% likelihood it'll be beef

I haven't got any beef but there's always a chance a passing cow could lose its footing and land on my bread.
