Brilliant band. Second album is genuinely fantastic, and they are better than fantastic live. Would recommend "The Future isn't what it used to be" to anyone. Gerrit bought!
Oh dear, what about grand dads, I'm 64 and I love em, seen em a few times, any body older than me seen em, got both albums on cd and even though I aint got a turn table any more, my son bought me the multi coloured vinyl album to save, going to get it framed for mi den.
I was only pulling his leg mate. Many moons ago he admitted to going to an Elton John concert and I've been ripping the piss out of him for it ever since. Not that there's anything wrong with Elton John particularly, but you know how it is, we're all still school kids at heart and any chink in the armour and we go for blood! I must admit, Exit Calm aren't really my cup of tea, but I hope they do really well and I'm glad to hear they've got a good local following. I think it's great these days that kids, dads and granddads all like the same music. Any band with a guitar player in it will have fans from 17 to 70, even if they think they're way too cool for us oldies. They're not, chances are we've heard similar before but we still like it. We've all lived through the rock and roll era so we all like the same stuff. I hope you're still enjoying Exit Calm in your 90s mate.
AH AH, don't think I'll make it mate with my life style, once had a bizzare discussion with a mate about what kind of music they would play to us if we ended up in a care home, as I'm into blues and rock would they dare play wrist slitting blues or make our ears bleed with metal. As you say we have all lived through the rock and roll era and a great many different styles of music from the 1950's on have some link to the blues, so it's no surprise that you can get three generations likeing the same music.
thanks for the generous "wishes": music is ageless and timeless; t`owd man and his lad enjoy their stuff. Music and football are all about opinions. What sort of stuff do you listen to Jay ?
Not sure mate, want to be there for Pusher at 9ish so probably get straight to Carson's. 17 of us going over. Giddy.
I certainly don't think Exit Calm are rubbish, far from it, I think they're very good and I wouldn't turn it off if it was on, but they're just a bit too intense for my taste, a bit too serious. I don't mean that as an insult, they're good qualities to have, it sounds like it's coming from the heart to me, but I'm an air head and I like stuff that's a bit lighter, a bit more frothy. I like plenty of guitar noise, but I like it poppy. Exit Calm are clearly accomplished musicians who like to experiment, where as I tend to listen to three chord pop thrashed out on a cheap guitar. I like indiepop, but I don't think that means a lot to most people, who think I'm talking about chart indie. I like pretty much everything on this label for a start and hundreds of other tiny labels releasing similar stuff. http://www.fortunapop.com/ This is as good an example as any
