Good example here of why sometimes the expected goals stat doesn't tell the full story. Joao's shocker in second half looks to have about a 0.1 xg attached to it - presumably because shots from that part of the box typically go in about 10 percent of the time... But that massively abstracts from the context of the keeper being stranded making it a really easy chance. You'd think in reality that shot should go in 80 percent of the time +. That said - looking at this timeline does seem to show that aside from our defensive blunders we were much more dominant than them and created a lot more throughout, which is how I saw the game. I thought we played well against a playoff chasing side and while it was tight we were definitely the ones more likely to create something. Result suits us much more than them.... Onto Monday.
My theory about that miss yesterday was that he was too busy thinking how to get a penalty to concentrate on the job in hand.
