Simon Davey quote, goals change games and our tactics went out of the window. They would you tool when you play for a 0-0 or try and pox a 1-0. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/3389
What else can he do though? I get the impression Simon is just hoping we stay in the game for as long as possible. Against vastly superior opposition, I'm not sure what else he can do. When we went a goal down against Colchester & Norwich, we foolishly started chasing the game - and got easily "picked off". Neither of those teams are particularly good away - but yet the manager panicked and we went all "gung ho". Can you imagine what would have happended had we gone "toe-to-toe" with Derby? To be fair to Simon, he did a lot better against Sunderland & Derby. Take away the goalkeeping error on Saturday and you could argue that we might have snatched a draw. Likewise, Sunderland only grabbed a second right at the very end of the game (ironically when we had to take a few risks). Despite this, we still don't really look like winning at home. Birmingham are up next at Oakwell. I can't see his philsophy changing much.
I imagine if we had gone toe to toe with derby then the result can't possibly have been worse The worst we could have got was 0 points and we managed it by playing 1 up front at home.
Vastly superior oppsition? http://www.therams.co.uk/details.asp?back=true&key=2234%7C0%7C33C8283810271%7CR%7C828%7C10145242112006392662432&parentkey=2234%7C0%7C33C8283810271%7Cp%7C828%7C0
You've got to give yourself a chance though I'm just comparing Saturday's performance with the ones against Norwich & Colchester. They just took us apart on the break. There's no way we could take that same approach against Derby.
They've got 12 away wins Best in the division by quite a measure. I'm standing by my statement. Preston in 4th place have only won 6 away.
