when we arrived at the check in desk at leeds bradford, the girl refused my wifes boarding pass. i asked what the problem is and she said my wife need a name change. my wife is called maria michelle, which is what's on her passport, but only uses michelle and that's the name i printed onto her boarding pass. she has travelled all over europe and egypt with numerous travel companies with no problem whatsoever. i had to pay £55 pounds to change from michelle to maria on her boarding pass. they wouldn't back down, no payment no flight. i think they are being pedantic and i'm looking for the money refunded, do i have a case?
not sure mate but i think all tickets etc have to have the names on them as printed on your passport, still a bit petty, £55 kin ell.
Sorry to say but I wouldn't have thought so if her name's Maria and you put Michelle on the boarding pass, regardless if she's got away with it in the past?
It needs to be the first name on the passport Sorry but Jet2 is right -even if you have managed to fly with that name in the past you are not technically correct £55 seems a bit steep though
Was that with the online checkin? If it wasn't I think you might have got away with that if you'd checked in online, because you have to give the passport number also.
All the online check in sites are very specific Provide the name exactly as it appear on the passport. Same with online shopping and credit cards So sorry they are correct. Though they are just using it to make money
Can see where your coming from, but check in staff have to follow procedures re people and bags on board a plane to the letter. Many people have been killed as a result of this not being done in the past, but I doubt your missus wanted to put a bomb on board.
It's just one of them pains in the arse things we have to put up with. Like fecking insurance companies.

It is time they changed all applications from just first name to All forenames. Several people of my acquaintance are known by their second Christian name rather than the first.
