And thats true of a lot bands, just one name sums it up, don't chuckle, SLADE, ne'er mind about abart mirrored hats an all that, LIVE, an absolute hard rocking band. would never chuckle at slade, one of my fav bands of all time had their first album "play it loud" when they were in their skinhead era. also "slade alive" an absolute top notch album and their versions of born to be wild and get down get with it are outstanding both were pre coz i love you which catapulted them into the limelight and the rest as they say is history. but even in the glam rock days i don't think they compromised too much their hard rock roots. you my friend have a great taste in music
Top band Marlon without doubt and one of my faves from 70`s great sounds whatever the gimmicky dress styles of the day.
well blushing at that. Thanks. Although my son takes the **** about my love of what he calls dead dog music (blues) as in my wifes left me and my dogs just died, cue wailing harp. I saw program a while back about the Brum area and it's music and the likes of Ossie and Roy Wood couldn't speak highly enough about Slade, both had a lot of respect for them.
I saw slade at the Sheffield Lyceum before it was done up... Circa 1980... They had dumped the glam rock **** and reinvented themselves as a hard rock band. Still have a soft spot for their stuff
i think that tour was for the 'we'll bring the house down' album, they also played at the first monsters of rock gig at donnington,,,cracking rock band..
