( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( So 2 days before I am due to get a ferry to france the worksy fishermen decide to blockade blockade Calais catching me as collateral damage as they try to cause as much mayhem as possible for Brits returning from their Easter holidays. The Irony of the French fishermen distrupting Britain because they dont like their fishing quota's is breathtaking. We should send the Navy round and sink a few - good old queen Vicky would have done. So now because of some (cant put what I want here as I would doubless be classed a racist) Frenchmen I look like I will need to find an extra £300 to pay top dollar for a last minute tunnel crossing. - put that into context its next years season ticket just to take a holiday I already paid for once ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( ( (
Where's your solidarity, you fascist! Tip for crossing via the chunnel - buy a cheap day return, much less than a single. We did that both ways and saved nearly £200.
???? Not sure I am missing something here - port blockaded so you cant get in or out of Calais, Dunquerque or Bouloigne Some of the ferries are stuck mid channel with nowhere to bearth - Dont know if the passengers have been rescued yet
If you're going to spend £300 on the tunnel . . . . . . then for £390 you can get a Frequent Traveller ticket for 10 crossings, valid for a year. Might be worth it if you plan on going over again (not that it sounds like you do). There might be supplemental charges over Easter but it's worth looking into (that's what we get).
I'm too cowardly to do that The small print states that they reserve the right to take the difference in payment from your card if you don't use the return leg of a day return. But I know plenty of people who've done it and never had a problem.
I mean yachts like last May.
I think they let them out after a bit of pressure. I was wondering if they've trapped non-commercial British craft. If they have then I reckon we should tell the French government to move them or we will.
The situation with the ferries etc is a bit more difficult for us to take a hand in I think.

Ah now I understand your post.... I dont know But I believe its a blockadein the usual french style - no boats in or out
Not sure about Nuking them Its only 21 miles to Blighty and I doubt that Kent would be too impressed. A few Tigerfish is all we need I recon after the 3rd trawler hit the bottom the rest would scarper sharpish
Nah. They check you have a valid ticket to travel.
They don't check you have a valid ticket to not travel. How would they enforce it even if they did? Why didn't you use the return part Sir? Lost it. Oh.

Its a £20 or £30 suppliment to travel at sensible times the £39 fare only applies if travelling out during the night or back from from france before lunch So for me it would then be £59 or possibly £69 for this trip each way so £120 in total .. and I need to do 4 more returns - which is quite possible but my ferry ticket was £82 return so I need to do some complicated sums Also there is only limited availlability per crossing - which wouldnt normally be a problem if booked far enough ahead but I can see it being an issue this week. Probably need to call them and check the situation though.
What do you mean "How would they enforce it"? They could enforce it, if they chose to, by acting in accordance with their terms and conditions. In other words, as you put it, they could indeed check that you had a valid ticket but didn't travel. I agree it's unlikely that they would and in practice it appears that they don't. But there's no reason why they couldn't.
That's the catch We allow 7 hours to get to Calais so we end up with some pretty early starts to get there before the supplement comes in at 2. And some late finishes going the other way to not cross to France before 4. But sometimes we do and sometimes we just pay the supplement.
