Forgetting my vested interests for a moment. I simply cannot BELIEVE that ITV have been let anywhere near a domestic football contract again. Their disastrous three years with the Premiership should have warned any interested parties off. Woeful viewing figures, lost advertising revenue and, out of it all, a damaged product. Shame on the FA for not learning anything from that fiasco and handing their products over to the highest bidder. I hope your cup competition dies on its big, fat, bloated arse.
Fill Wembley now, Barwick, you idiot.

RE: Don't be bitter I'm only bothered about the competition, mate. Losing the contract will actually mean a few more weekends off for me!! No doubt we'll pick up the pieces in 2012 when ITV have completely ****** it again.
RE: Forgetting my vested interests for a moment. The big news here is Setanta getting the pay-TV rights, quite how it's seen in the interests of the consumer to split football across different Pay-TV suppliers I don't know, end up paying twice as much to get the same content. (Although at the moment it won't affect me as I get Setanta as part of my NASN subscription - but NASN is being bought by ESPN and it's still unsure what package it will be in) Also, I can't see ITV giving quite the same level of coverage to the early rounds as the BBC did as they'll have to cater to their advertisers.
Whatever competitions they cover, however they dress it up, whoever they bring in (eg Des Lynam), football just isn't football on ITV. It's strangely odd.
Could be the first time I've watched the cup final on ITV (and watched almost every final since 1972), used to watch on BBC, I've watched it on Sky since they've had it.
RE: Don't be bitter I have no doubt ITV will knacker it up. Amateurish in the extreme. As witness 'The Championship'
RE: Don't be bitter Just think yourself lucky that we don't still have the regional Sunday afternoon highlights programme - would be Leeds as the main game every week
RE: Don't be bitter I miss John Helms' schoolboy like excitement.
ITV are just ****. Mind, I can't wait to see Harry Gration's reaction should Leeds go down.

A bad move by the FA. ITV have not got a clue how to put a sport programme together. The BBC's productions just seem more polished somehow.
