I've change my mind and if I had to choose between the two I would defo go for an FA CUP win with ensuing relegation

the reasons being:

Teams get promoted and relegated all the time and are forgotten forever, future promotions and relegations will be our future.
FAC cup winners are forever etched in history and we will never have this chance again.

Next season we could be playing carlisle and and MK dons instead of West Brom and Fulham but we would have the mantle of FA Cupwinners!

Our best players would leave...but with a chance to play in Europe may convince otherwise.

Attendenances would slip...we would be FA CUp Winners! European nights at Oakwell would surely draw in numbers.

The 1st team outside the top 4 to win for 13 years as opposes to another mediocre team playing another season in the championship.

Whast substance are you on??????
Championship football means we have a chance of attaining a play off spot or at least a crack at the premiership with a pot of money worth in excess of £60 million
In reality if we win the cup, we will be out in the first round so income generation would be for one home game in europe.
if we get relegated gates go down and so does revenue as i have no doubt that we will change manager again and players will leave which will frustrate the hell out of fans again and therefore cause another depressing atmosphere for the fans

European nights?

More like European night, after we get knocked out in the first round to some unknown foreigners.

Why should we have to chose? relegation would be nowt to do with Cup run

Im getting a bit tired of people saying that our dip in form is to do with doing well in the cup. I think its a load of rhubarb!

Its more to do with:

1. Our woeful away record.......W1 D6 L 13

2. Our laughable lack of punch from our strikers.

3. Injuries to key players

4. A noticable dip in form since mid October. Since then we have only comfortably beaten two teams at home, they being Wolves 1-0 and West Brom 2-1. Other than that we have struggled to put in the odd good 45 minutes.

For all those that regularly criticise Brian Howard for not trying, being a boozer, not having the right hairstyle or whatever. 14 Goals from midfield??? You need to wholeheartedly thank him for being the real reason that were not down and out already.

Teams below the second tier ie. Championship are barred, I beleive I heard yesterday, from European competitions.

RE: FA Cup Win vs Relegation - what are the chances?

Well at the moment, we are one of four teams left in the cup, which gives us a 25% chance of winning it. Added to that, every team left in the competition has better form than us, which probably puts our chance of lifting the trophy at at about 15%. So although we are close to the final, talk of winning the trophy is still - odds-wise - a long way off for me.

On the other hand, we are one of(perhaps) 5 teams at risk of going down, so at the moment we have only a 20% chance ofrelegation - added to the fact that our form is probably worse than the rest except Soton(?) I'd put our chances of relegation at about25-30% now.

So the likelihood is really that we won't win the cup, and we won't go down, but I think there is more chance of us going down than of us winning the cup.
