http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20321225 Now I have accused the FA of many things but the approach it has taken to combat racism over the last 20 years or so really proves that this is not the case at all. When I first went to football in the early '70s it was commonplace to make monkey noises etc to coloured players, and I remember it being a big thing the first time a black player was capped for England now racist activities are really taboo and most people never notice the colour of players in games. The guy is really starting to annoy me now You might think that the FA has dealt too leniently with some racist offences ( I'd agree) but you could say the same about some foul acts committed - fracturing someones skull with a deliberate elbow springs to mind for example but there is a huge step from there to saying they are institutionally racist or institutionally violent. I dont want to see the police involved in on field incidents whether it being foul language, racist language or a punch up or whether the sport is football , Rugby , boxing or whatever - I would far rather the police spent their time on other activites, and let the sporting bodies take care of the events that happen in the heat of a sporting moment.
I would suggest that Mr Herbert is a least an opportunist (trying to tap into prem money) and at worst a racist himself for actually alienating all other creed and colours and setting up a black action group mmmmmmmmmmm. Why would he not want to set this up in say Serbia, where there allegedly are more problems, oh thats right he likes practicing law in just the UK !!!!
The guy is making himself look like a clown with his remarks. The FA and indeed most authorative bodies have become so anti-racist that the only issue I see is possible discrimination the OTHER WAY. The ban for Terry was too lenient, but then the context around his words meant he couldn't be properly charged with racism anyway. Every other case, including the Millwall schoolboy (who it appears was never racist in the first place now), has been treated with more sincerity than it seems many other crimes are. In the Clattenburg case, no 'victim' has even come forward, no evidence presented. What does Herbert want? Maybe we should charge Clattenburg anyway just in case. If anyone is accused of racism, charge em, otherwise it's racist. Absolutely ridiculous.
