FA to probe Leeds pitch invasion

The Football Association has confirmed it will launch an investigation into the pitch invasion by Leeds fans that marred Saturday's 1-1 draw at Ipswich.

Several hundred fans spilled on to the pitch and forced a 30-minute delay after a late Ipswich equaliser all but sealed Leeds' relegation to League One.

However, FA chiefs said it "was highly unlikely" a points deduction at the start of next season could be enforced.

Leeds are three points adrift of safety with one match to play.

And with their goal difference of -24 far worse than Hull's -15, only a miracle on the last day of the season could keep the Whites in the Championship.

FA spokesman Mark Hooper

FA spokesman Mark Hooper said: "In the first instance it's a criminal offence to encroach on the pitch and we will be liaising with the police on that matter.

"We will be making various enquiries. We will wait to see the reports from our crowd observers and the referee's match report and will also be seeking observations from the club as to what happened.

"It's too early to say what action the FA would find appropriate, but it would be very unusual for that to be a points deduction.
"It's more likely any individual found guilty of an offence will be banned and we'd make sure the club is taking the right steps to ensure it doesn't happen again."

"Highly unlikely" to get a points deduction.

does that mean the hooligans have got away with it?

Sounds like it. So relieved that Leeds didn't score from the restarting corner otherwise they'd have got away with that as well.

I hope the ref gets a suspension at least

Should never have let the game restart

    I thought that.

I wondered at what point (time) he would officially say the match was abandoned and the score stood.

the FA will probably have told him to keep waiting all night if he had to and will be giving them a penalty every 5 minutes next week

    nice attempt at the panorama

little tip for u next time bud... if your camera has a manual mode take a pic at the brightest area and take the exposure settings there and then set that up in manual mode. Then when you move the camera through the stages it will stay a constant exposre through the sequence and you wont get the camera changing the settings and giving u the dark light effect.
