Does anyone think that the lack of response by the FA in relation to Morgans assault on Hume is actually a self preservation tactic? If the FA act against Morgan or indeed act strongly against Morgan then they in fact accept that their employee (The referee) failed to protect the health and safety of the players he was put in charge of? Therefore any acceptance of this then makes them accountable in a court of law for legal proceedings to be brough against them? You could go deeper than all of this, as posted earlier it is clear that Sheff Utd players have been "advised" to take an aggresive approach against the opposition, and they have actively promoted the use of an elbow on an opponent (See Brian Howard's comments on Sky Sports soccer am). So who is to blame in all of this? Chris Morgan - Pre-meditated assault? Sheff Utd - Employer and involvement with pre-meditated assault? Referee - Failure to uphold health and saftey resulting in a severe breach The FA - Employer of the referee All told, I bet some excuse is forthcoming that the referee never actually saw the elbow that caused the damage and the yellow card was for persistent leading with the arm or aggressive force etc. etc. (This then clears the FA of any failure to uphold health and saftety regulations even though the referee was informed of the danger prior to the incident) So no doubt a 3 game ban heading the way of Morgan and the FA sweep their involvement in the case under the carpet.
Referees are not employed by the FA. Their employers are the Professional Game Match Officials Board which is an independent body and a limited company
